I took issue with him tackling the Kings player by the neck and negating the power play. Standing up for your guy is what you always want to see. He just didn't have to step over the line.
That late in the game and two goals down, I was totally ok with Tarasenko knocking the LA douche down to the ice. I would've kicked in the head too but Vladi's cool head prevailed. I could only imagine how frustrating it was to play against the grappling, tripping Kings that got away with 4-5 penalties each period. I don't want to say that the refs are biased but - and everyone knows it - the initial penalty almost never gets called. It's when the guy who was just tripped or run over tries to get back he gets penalized. And the Kings are pretty good at playing that game. Almost Red Wings-like good. And I loathe them for it.

We didn't play well. Halak's faux pas was pretty awful. And we deserved to lose because they were the better team.

That said, holy shit did the refs miss some calls on the Kings. How Reaves got the only penalty at the end of the 2nd is amazing to me. He got punched in the face FFS. I didn't see what he did to retaliate. He probably did something worthy of a roughing call. But, get em both. I think in those situations refs need to do a better job of sorting penalties. On occasion, maybe only 1 call is warranted. But, almost always, it should be matching I think. It's pretty rare that it shouldn't be matching minors, but they seem to only get 1 an awful lot.

Well guys, I let you down. It was still fun as heck to actually be AT a game for the first time in over a decade, I just wish they would have been able to get a W. The Oshie penalty shot goal was pretty cool, but there wasn't a ton of offense beyond that. Halak didn't have his best game but the same could be said about a number of other guys. The refs weren't exactly helpful either but that's sort of how the game goes sometimes. The Blues are going to have to kick it up a notch for Saturday's contest.

After the shorthanded goal I felt physically ill. They had their best shot at tying it up and pissed it away on some suspect goalie puck handling and a defensive meltdown. I felt like they were about to pan to the bench and we'd see Skeltor there.

All I can say is they better go on a tear now. Anything less than 6 or 7 W's in a row will be unacceptable. They've hardly scored in a couple of games now and it's reminiscent of last season. Hopefully Steener coming back will light a new fire under their asses.

Hawks were up three. Anaheim has two now and five more minutes. Hooray NHL network.

That's going the extra mile. A "true fan" move for sure.

I will be on full Steenis watch mode tomorrow. I am expecting Blues tacos.

Give me Blues games over palm trees every day. I must have expected palm tree weather actually because I didn't even bring a coat with me. Luckily I've only walked about 8 miles outside over the past 2 days in this balmy weather. It's a real man's vacation.

I really sucked at reading the forecast prior to leaving. I thought for sure it was supposed to be in the 50's this week. I think it was 2 with wind chill today.

Still, I trudge on. Why? Blues hockey.
