These series that are closely contested and "could go either way" separate teams into those that find a way to win them and deserve to be consider cup contenders and those who don't are pretenders.

If Miller finds a way to give up one more goal, then it's time to do two things: Play Elliott to get ready for next year, and to blow up Chicago players.

Another breakaway. Another goal for the wrong side. Miller was in full fish flop mode there. Ugly.

That's the season right there in three minutes of piss poor hockey.

Our pp looked much better at the end if the second, but too little too late with zero results.

It's time to jettison some guys up front an retool.

F$cking Blues.

And, by the way, can someone please sell me on Army as GM of the Year again? Because I'm having a very difficult time trying to figure out what move he's made with this roster this year that has worked that should mean that he keeps his job.
If it's me, I think Army should be fired. He "pursued folly" at the deadline and it has hurt the franchise.

Future, thy name is Jake Allen. Jettison Miller and Elliott and use the money on a guy who can fukking finish. The defense SHOULD be good enough to cover for Allen's growing pains and after a full season on the job, he'll be no worse than what we have now.

If we can't score once on 6 power plays we really don't deserve to win this one...

It's not just Miller, although 75% of NHL teams would fire him for a big trade that has failed so beautifully. But...Derek Roy? Leopold? Brendan Morrow? Aucoin? Trading 28/29/57 David Perron for 6/6/12 Paajarvi? And now, after watching Perron and Johnson flame out, we're going to go into yet another season letting Army bray about how Allen and Rattie are going to fix everything?

Berglund should have been the one sent packing, not Perron. Well, probably both of them, but Berglund more for certain.

I don't see why Elliott is not out there right now.

And after this, I wouldn't have any problem with firing Hitch, either. I think we know what we have with him, and I have no belief that it's good enough to do any better than this. I think we have enough data now.

I'm so sick of watching this crap. I'm glad I haven't bought a real ticket to watch this live in almost two years. I can watch them implode from my couch as well as anywhere else. What a bunch of heartless losers.

So what exactly is the distribution of draft picks when Miller doesn't re-sign with the team? We still lose the 1st rounder this year?

It's okay, the blues will pass on resigning miller, some other team will ride him to a cup- with com smyth and vezina to boot.

The back of his lid says "Miller Time". You just can't have this guy in stl, lol. He's been terrible since it arrived, btw. The hockey gods are not amused.

I don't understand how we go from being one of the most dominating teams all season to this?

I'm ok with Hitch being gone.

Hitch is a kinder, gentler Tortorella. Neither system works long term. How he won with Dallas I don't know, but you can't play a high intensity physical defense first block 90% of the shot attempts style and not expect your entire team to be worn down by the playoffs. It's the same reason Tortorella couldn't get a very talented Rangers team to the finals and why a very talented Vancouver team didn't even make the playoffs.

Whether this team has the personnel to overcome a less defensive system in favor of taking more chances via creative offensive is unknown. Would such a system render Pie, Shatt and Bouw less meaningful? Maybe one of them can be traded for a real scorer and go from there. I hate to suggest this particular guy given his own history of playoff flameouts, but Washington is down on Ovechkin pretty badly at the moment.

Edit: Worked out some numbers. - Miller and - Shattenkirk about works out to + Ovechkin.

Smoke and mirrors.

We feasted on the bad teams, played okay against the top teams, and struggled to score against the best in the league. We had scoring issues against cup contenders most of the season.

...all that's left are teams we can't score on.

No next year's 1st and a third, though I'm not sure if it's this year next year or 2016

Army has to be fired. Like, tomorrow. No question. He's gotta go.
