Yea, me too. Just read on facebook how Blues fans are upset by this? Never be a Lapierre fan.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
I've heard of Goc, but I don't know much about him.
I think a solid case could be made for Lapierre being our worst skater this year though. So, with that in mind, the bar is set pretty low for it to be a successful trade.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
I can see Lappy's cult following. He's had a run of good playoff performances, including last year. But I agree with cardsfan: he's had a rough season. If the Pens and their fans think they're getting more agitating and gritty with this trade, it's safe to say they haven't seen 40 play a whole lot this year. Plus, he's been more of a defensive liability than ever, which would be the last thing a team would want from a 4th liner.
Now admittedly, I'm no expert on Marcel Goc. But after scouring the interwebs upon this news I've gathered a few things: he's defensively responsible, he's a good penalty killer and faceoff guy, and he was bogged down by his linemates. Now, I don't know that he's going to find Reaves and Ott to be spectacular finishers, but we all know one thing about those two: they hit whatever moves. Reaves and his ferocious hitting have opened up things for his past linemates so we'll see. The fans may not like this trade for the Blues, but the hockey pundits do. Meaningless? Maybe, but it's something.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
Eh. Well...I guess Goc is less of a dick than Lapierre...so there's that.
It's all about chemistry...if he has chemistry with Reaves and Ott, then it could be a decent trade...but if he doesn't, then meh.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
We hands-down won this trade. Everyone who is downplaying Goc aren't realizing that he had some really bad linemates and that's skewed his numbers.
Goc can put up points and he is agressive on the ice. He ain't no fighter by any means. I am really interested to see how he translates from a East to West coast game. I really think this might be the steal of the year for us. Goc's got so much in his toolbox that it's downright scary.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
I'd call it a lateral move, but LaPierre was so pointless to this team, Goc can't possibly be anything but an improvement.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
This is a trade that won't move the needle all that much. Lapierre is the 'sandpaper' going one way and Goc is the 4th liner w/ a little skill coming back this way. I know Lapierre hasn't been great for us but he did seem to gel pretty well with Reaver and Ott. I've also read that Goc is a pretty good penalty killer, so maybe that was the key to making this deal?
2015-2016 LGB Sponsor of Not Ott, because he is a booger-eating dumb dumb
Re: Goc for Lapierre
I must be one of the few who don't like this trade. Why mess with the chemistry of the team, in order to at best slightly upgrade your 4th line? Give me the penalty kill excuse all you want, the guy we got will not be in the top 4 of our penalty killers. I'm all for making trades to improve the team, or even cut salary for next year, but this trade does neither!

Re: Goc for Lapierre
IF he moves his feet, I'll take him. I was down on Lappy's play for most of this year... and last. It's a lateral move, likely setting up something else to be sure.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
I'd have moved Lapierre for almost anything so I can't complain. Goc looks like he's got a bit more offense to him but has trouble suiting up in enough games per season to make much impact. Given they're a couple expiring contracts I guess both get a chance to impress a new team ahead of the offseason after their former teams had decided they'd cut bait, which I imagine both had.
So you probably can already start thinking about how you'll remember the Marcel Goc area.

Re: Goc for Lapierre
hooray!!! no more watching someone who repeatedly gets outworked on the boards, can't pass, and can't shoot. Unless Goc does the same.
While the articles talk about Lapierre playing for Vancouver, whatever he was doing then he has not done for the Blues.

I know next to dick about Goc, but I've always felt weird about having Lapierre on the team after he was part of the Canucks lineup with whom we generated so much bad blood. He has been damn near invisible. I only remember one pretty sweet play in the playoffs where he jumped off the bench and just surprised the shit out of someone with a hit that wasn't paying attention, think it was a Hawk.
