I picked Nashville to win. I just wasn't impressed with the Hawks down the stretch. They had more problems than just missing Patrick Kane.

Kane may return for game #1.
Patrick Kane 'probable' for Game 1 against the Predators, according to report
http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2015/4/ ... ators-2015

Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane is expected to play in the team's first-round series against the Nashville Predators and could be back as soon as Game 1. Kane has been cleared for full-contact practice on Monday and is considered probable for the opening game of the series on Wednesday, according to Hawks broadcaster Pat Boyle.

It goes without saying that this is potentially season-changing news for the Blackhawks. Kane was playing on an MVP-level before suffering a major clavicle injury in February. That was expected to keep him out for roughly 12 weeks, but now we're apparently hearing he'll be back much, much sooner.

This isn't unprecedented. Minnesota's Jason Zucker suffered a similar injury this season and came back nearly a month early, although we're looking at an even quicker turnaround for Kane. One middle ground that seems possible is Kane returning soon, but not until later in the series.
https://twitter.com/MarkLazerus/status/587363521303863296 Either way, this is a huge development for Chicago. Having Kane back in time for a few games against the Predators (and whatever might come next) could be difference between a deep run or going home early. We still need to see something more official from the team before getting too excited, but for now it sounds an awful lot like the Hawks' playoff run won't have to come without their superstar winger.

I don't want to see a guy injured but whenever he comes back this series is earlier than expected and I imagine the Preds will look to mash him to see how ready he really is.

Think this one goes to 7.

If he does come back not only will JNE have a huge woody but hopefully it will mean he comes back too early and he sucks and HOPEFULLY he gets hurt worse.

Wow! Predators have added more rules to prevent Hawks fans from having 7 home games in the series.

Kane has just been cleared by the Hawks team physician to play full contact and will play game 1!

I think I might change my pick from Nashville back to Chicago. That will be a HUGE emotional lift for Chicago.

It has not been said that he will play in game 1 yet. All of these headlines are saying he will play in game 1, but nobody has said that yet. Those articles also go on to say if he doesn't play in game 1, he should return at some point in the series. So it seems the headlines are baiting people, only to go on to say nothing we didn't already know? Weird.

I don't think he'll play until game 3 when the Hawks are down 2-0. If the Hawks win the first two I bet he doesn't play in round 1 at all.

Kane was cleared today to play in game 1 - this was announced on Chicago radio. While the Hawks did not say definitively if he will play he's been listed as 'probable' for Wed and the team made a statement that their medical guys have cleared him to play.

That makes me freakin nervous if I'm a Hawks fan to be honest. I know these guys are freak athletes and probably heal way quicker than the average human and if doc's say he's good to go than he's good but the prognosis I was hearing/reading about made it seem that if he wasn't totally healed and he got hit the wrong way than his collar bone basically shatters...

That doesn't sound like something I would mess around with in ANY way. That guy is too important to your franchise long term to be gambling with a few extra playoff games. Maybe the doc reports have changed but all the reports, especially early on, emphasized patience and letting it fully heal. Doesn't really sound like that's what the Hawks are doing.

Vermette is a healthy scratch for game one - due to lack of performance. Versteeg will center the 2nd line.

They also said that they are going to wait and see how he gets through practice on Tuesday before making a decision.
But of course it makes sense not to rush to a decision one way or another. Why announce anything before they have to?

But still...he has JUST been cleared for contact. That would make me nervous if I was a Hawk fan...for him to step into a friggin' nasty playoff game just two days after he is cleared for contact on that shoulder? Yikes.

I don't think the Hawks need Kane to beat the Preds. But I guess you never know.

I wonder if he'll shy away from contact on that shoulder? I bet the Preds will be more than happy to really test it out.

Kerfuffle, you said yourself that several Hawks are underperforming. Even Hossa and Sharp haven't really stepped up. Kane and Toews can't carry the team all by themselves.

I still think Nashville has a slight edge here.
