Cardinals to have "Blues Theme" Night on 9/21/15

I seem to recall some of you throwing a stink last year over the Blues wearing Cardinal themed jerseys in warmups to promote the Cardinals upcoming season... and then saying "I'll believe it when I see it" when it was said that the Cardinals were going to return the favor for the Blues.

Well...here you go. You can believe it now.

LET'S GO BLUES! LET'S GO BLUES!

Hockey season is almost here, and on Monday, September 21, the Cards and Blues are celebrating together at Busch Stadium! With the purchase of your special Blues Night Theme Ticket, you will receive an exclusive Blues/Cardinals themed cap.*

Prior to the game, fans can get autographs from Blues and Cardinals alumni during a pregame pep rally complete with Louie and the Blue Crew. Members of the 2015-2016 Blues will be introduced on field during a special pregame ceremony, and the Cardinals will have additional Blues prizes and surprises throughout the game.

Cardinals players will wear a St. Louis Blues themed jersey/sweater during batting practice. Following the game, the batting practice-worn jerseys will be available for auction with proceeds benefitting Cardinals Care – the team’s charitable arm.

Fans will also be able to purchase Blues themed Cardinals t-shirts, available exclusively at the ballpark.

Also want to take this admittedly not-really-related opportunity to re-assert that the A-B (InBev... ) v Coors thing isn't at all the reason for not having outdoor games at Busch. I've been noting while watching baseball lately that every team has at least one large and prominent Budweiser ad on the decks at their park. Every single one.

Only thing I hate about this is you can't buy cheaper tickets on Seat Geek and then get the hat on entrance. You have to go through the Cards website and get tickets at full price. That's a no go for me. But I'm happy to see Blues night happening, especially this close to the season.

That pissed me off as well. However...buying the voucher ticket from the Cardinals guarantees you get a hat, assuming you go pick it up when you get there.

With other promotional nights, you have to wait in line and get there early...and if you don't, you risk them running out. That happened to me the last two times I went to a Cards game. I missed out on a bobble head and something else...even though I was at the stadium about 20-30 minutes before the game started.

I haven't been to many Cards games lately (one this year and one last year), so I was fine with picking up a couple tickets for $20/ea. ($26.50 after fees). Those same tickets without the hat voucher would have been around $10-$12 or so on seatgeek...but whatever. The hat looks kinda cool...and I saw some guy is already on ebay selling his (for when he gets it) for like $40.

So my son and I went to this last night. Very cool.
Backes threw out the first pitch...and did it like a boss.
Lots of Blues players on hand and were introduced on the field.

The hats that they gave out are pretty bad ass. Very nice.
Someone wanted to buy my son's hat. I think these things are in high demand...I've seen a lot of people wanting to buy them, as the hat vouchers sold out fairly quick.

The Blues themed Cardinals jerseys the Cardinal players wore in warmups were awful. They should have redesigned the Cardinal jersey using Blues colors instead of essentially making a short sleeve hockey jersey with a huge blue area at the bottom...it looked really, really bad.
The Cardinals themed Blues jersey is pretty nice. It's not my cup of tea, but it was so much better done than the Blues themed Cardinals jersey.

I also didn't understand why they didn't let the fans into the stadium so they could watch the Cardinals during batting practice with the jerseys on. The gates were closed when they were wearing them...stands were empty. What's the point?

All in all, a fun night...and we got the win.

Agreed on the jerseys- bad call to directly apply hockey stripes to the lower half of a baseball jersey. Although it would look good hanging in a man cave...

Agreed those were awful. I saw some people on twitter yammering over how great they were and was wondering what I was missing. I was expecting a blue button up baseball jersey. That would have been cool as hell.

I must have seen this before, because this is exactly what I was expecting/hoping for. Just add a Cardinal tint to it somewhere and it's golden.

Someone offered to buy one of our hats last night while I was in line at concession. I said it wasn't for sale. I didn't ask him how much he would offer. Maybe it's best I didn't know...I want the hat.
