Could be something, could be nothing.

"St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz exited practice Friday morning after he slipped and crashed into the goal post during a drill.
He was helped off the ice by the training staff, unable to put weight on his left leg, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports."

Rattie has been called up.
So....yeah. It's serious enough anyway.

At least it wasn't a golf cart incident. Still frustrating.

Does this mean my sponsorship automatically transfers over to Rattie? The rules aren't very clear in this area.

I literally (in the figurative sense of the word) just peed in my pants a little bit.
And I almost gave an over/under on how many posts before the words golf cart appeared.
On the brought sow at least this won't hurt Schwartz ' gpg average[emoji51]

Schwartz has a fractured ankle.
- Stastny is out 5 weeks.
- Schwartz is out 12 weeks.
- Fabbri suffered a concussion in the 2nd game and hasn't played since.
- Shattenkirk has been out 11 days (won't play tonight either) with a lower body injury (groin).
- Berglund was hurt in camp and will be out until January. (most feel this is no big loss though)
We are only 7 games into f'ing season.
This is stupid.
I guess the bright side is that these have happened now and not right before playoffs...but...we still have to get into the playoffs.
Ugh.

Silver lining? I saw on the twitterverse that the injuries may accelerate the jettison of Gunnarsson. Bjs and pens interested. Sans Shatty, they can still recall Lindbohm for as long as necessary. Getting rid of Gunnarsson is a net positive. Dude plays like a hot Carl.

I'm convinced all us lifelong Blues fans must have been ax-murderers in our previous lives!

Schwartz's replacement, eh? He probably played for The Stars in the 1990s, and is willing to play for the rest of this year for only $2.6 million!

Speaking of replacements for injured players, looks like Jordan Schmaltz is off to a pretty good start in Chicago this season. I'm happy they have Butler up as the 7 man so Schmaltz (and Lindbohm and Vannelli) can continue to get ice time, but the way this season's going so far and the inevitable loss of another player very soon, probably a d-man, go figure, and Schmaltz should get a look instead of Butler slotting in.

Well that developed quickly.
Just to make it clear: these guys are out for
at least 12 and 5 weeks, respectively. The Blues are very, very lucky that Lehtera's thing didn't linger. And it looks like there may be yet another chance for Berglund when/if he gets back.
For now, expect to see this team suddenly get much, much older. Yeah, they recalled Rattie...and Hitch gave him 6 minutes.
So yeah, you can see the rumblings about dealing from defensive depth for a forward. The real bright side is that Fabbri will play tomorrow and will hopefully do so completely encased in bubble wrap.

A little perspective -
- If he had ankle surgery then 12 weeks seems aggressive and likely not gonna happen. I am currently nursing my fractured right ankle. Broke it on 8/17, surgery 8/26, off crutches 6 weeks later on 10/8 and walking in boot. Out of boot on 10/23. In physical therapy, walking and driving now but ankle is still weak due to atrophy and will take awhile. So I'm at 8.5 weeks since surgery and functional but no way in hell could I skate. I don't think at 12 weeks he would have enough strength. More like 20. When I broke left ankle 8 years ago it took 6 months to fully recover. The hawks lost Rozival during Minnesota series this past May due to fractured ankle and he's still not back.
