I really like the Panthers and especially their run to end the season. That group is clicking on all cylinders. Losing Trocheck really hurts though. Still, I think they'll get it done. The Isles have really looked like some hot garbage a lot of nights.

Part of the Islanders problem is the lack of Halak lately. Griess is a good backup but not a viable starter on a regular basis. It's showing with the Panthers jumping out to the early 1-0 lead that they'll probably be in the driver seat in this series.

Interesting fact... three teams have been to at least one SCF but never won a SCF game... St. Louis, Florida and Washington. Will any of the three change history this season?

(1) Greiss played better than Luongo did tonight. He let him some goals but Luongo did not look sharp at all.

(2) What does it take for the Panthers to ever sell out their building? Ever? My God, their opening playoff game and the place was half empty, unbelievable.

(3) Barkov is going to be a superstar in this league. Played an outstanding game, had a great season before this and only 20 years old... I'm jealous

Agreed and it's a big reason I think the franchise will have to move at some point. Tampa is able to survive with a thriving fanbase but there doesn't seem to be much interest in the Miami area to support an NHL team.

So the Panthers had a player tripped with the puck on his stick, net empty, ready to force Game 7...but there is no call.

I hear a lot of Blues fans (not just on here but out on other social media platforms and in my real life too) talk about how the NHL is out to get us and we're the only ones screwed. Instead, something like that happens and it just emphasizes how bad NHL officiating is across the league.

Yeah, I was watching and thought that was a travesty. Completely missed call. However, according to Puck Daddy, this is exactly how this should have been called. Ahem, non-called. Go figure.

I get the whole "it's the playoffs" rhetoric, but that goes for players playing harder, maybe hitting harder, maybe questionable calls not called. But this was a clear-as-day trip. Gotta get called, regardless of the situation.

Tripping is barely being called in the playoffs at all. They seem to be enforcing it by the old rule. If the player committing the trip is playing the puck and gets it - no trip, even though that rule was specifically changed to make it a penalty.
