I thought the Panthers would be playing the Bolts.

I just can't get myself to pick a New York team. I hate NY (sorry Glen) no matter the team or sport so Bolts in 6.

I just want Blues/Isles to be a real possibility. I'd love to be able to go to a scf game, especially possibly the clinching game.

Picking a Florida team is about as close to picking a NY team as you can get. Just sayin'...

Well, Jagr at least.

Wait, he's not dead yet?

No, but he's in the ideal spot to slide seamlessly into assisted living and 5pm early bird specials when he decides to hang 'em up.

Well my favorite Aunt was born and raised here in the St. Louis area (Illinois side) and moved to Florida (closer to Tampa) about 25 years ago and she is nothing like a New Yorker. That's like saying Chicago and St. Louis are the same because they are from the Midwest, which we all know it is not. I've worked in the NY area before and it's nothing like Florida not even close...just sayin'...

Go down near Miami and Lauderdale... that's where the NYer sand Jerseyites are. North and Central Florida are melting pots in the major cities.

On the game....

Didn't know Bishop was 1-2 vs the Isles this season with a 4+ GAA and sub .900 SV% vs them. That showed up again tonight. Gonna have to get that out of his head quick.

Hickey... what a dumbass. Hit in the shoulder/chest, throws his head back and lays there, Boyle scores the game-winner, because Hickey is a dumbass trying to draw a call when it was clear, with the referee being right on top of it and not stopping play, there was not going to be a call.

Only video I can find shows the hit being with a lowered shoulder at the shoulder. How Capuano is calling that a "direct shot to the head" comparable with the Orpik and Letang hits I have no idea. Hickey cost the Islanders the game by embellishing.

That hit on Drouin was a crusher though.

Not crushing enough to prevent him from setting up the game-tying goal. That assist was a great example of how skating creates space to make passes. The Capitals power play could take a lesson from that kid.

Solid hit though due to Drouin having his head down.

And just like that my dream of being in attendance when the Blues win the Cup while all you suckers have to watch it on tv go down in flames. Thanks for nothing, islanders.

Would have been awesome if you got seats in the Kia (or whatever it is they're hawking) in the lower corner and just hung out there all game, honking your horn 3 times to get the proper Let's Go Blues cadence going. The dream has died!

I am thoroughly impressed and surprised by the Lightning dispatching of the Red Wings and Isles in 6 each. I know neither of the Lightning opponents were necessarily the cream of the crop but still... and certainly not in 6 games.

I still think whoever comes out of that Capitals/Penguins series goes on to represent the East in the Cup Finals though. If the Bolts had Stralman and Stamkos playing and at 100% it'd be a different story.

Islanders desperately need to get Tavares some help. Other than Okposo nobody on that team is a dependable offensive threat. Lots of 3rd and 4th line players faking it as 1st and 2nd line guys. Doesn't work.

When your 4th line was 4th in the league in ice time as a line, there is something wrong - which was the case for the Islanders.

Don't see the Caps or Pens as cut and dried winners over the Lightning with the Bolts defense, goaltending and team speed.

The Lightning are a bit of a dirty team... some carry over from when a bunch of them were playing for the filthy rags. They'll push Pittsburgh around pretty good, Pens best be prepared.

My bracket has TB winning the East.
