Ty Rattie a Hurricane
Looks like he was picked up on waivers.

Well at least we won't have to complain about Hitch not playing him anymore.

Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
If we weren't going to ever use him and the organ-EYE-zation obviously felt he wouldn't be a regular NHL'er anytime soon did we at least TRY to trade him?
Hell you'd think for a young cheap prospect there would be suitors lined up. Either that or the Blues took a dumb gamble nobody would grab him if they tried to return him to Chicago.
Can't help but feel a little violated as a fan by this move. We just *poof* lost him, prospect gone. Good work guys keep it up

I have such mixed feelings about this. Good for him, but sucks that we gave away one of our top prospects. I have major doubts that he will ever be anything in the NHL, but this isn't ideal prospect management.

Congrats, Ty. Enjoy actually getting to frikken play, finally.
Screw you, Army. You couldn't at least trade him for a pick? But Lehtera gets to keep logging ice time. Groovy.

Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
Blues knew the consequences when they signed him to a two year contract in 15. First year was two way, second year one way. They gambled on him developing and it didn't happen. He was likely shopped, but Army may not have had any leverage, with other teams knowing the waivers would make Rattie available for free. I suppose we can roll Rattie into the Yakupov trade, which made him a casualty.
Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
The one way two way thing has nothing to do with waivers. All that determines is how much someone gets paid if they do get sent down. The issue with Rattie and waivers was number of games played, his age and no longer being on an entry level contract. When the Blues re-signed him this season, they knew he would be subject to waivers if they tried to send him down, because he's played too many professional games (the AHL games count) and it's no longer his entry level contract. When they sent him down earlier this season, it was for "conditioning" so they didn't have to use the waiver process.Winning Unlimited wrote:Blues knew the consequences when they signed him to a two year contract in 15. All that being said, why the hell he never played is on the coaching staff and Rattie who is apparently limited to only being a RWer which is a death knell for an under-sized NHL player.

I thought if somebody has a one way contract that you have to put them on waivers if you want to send them to the AHL. Is that not true?theohall wrote:The one way two way thing has nothing to do with waivers. All that determines is how much someone gets paid if they do get sent down. Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
Correct. That is not true. 1-way, 2-way only determines salary paid. Whether or not waivers is required is determined by NHL games played, age, and whether the contract is entry level or not. I thought the same thing about 1-way, 2-way thing forever and only learned about it only meaning salary when I looked it up last year.cardsfan04 wrote:I thought if somebody has a one way contract that you have to put them on waivers if you want to send them to the AHL. Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
Pretty much precisely how I feel about it. Especially this year more than any other we weren't THAT deep on offense. We lost two big pieces and got back... Yakupov? If Rattie was going to make the jump to a middle 6 forward in this league on a consistent basis I feel it would've happened already.cardsfan04 wrote:I have such mixed feelings about this. That being said, you're right, you're not instilling a whole lot of confidence when you're losing former and recent top 60 draft picks for nothing.

Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
Blues claimed Rattie back from Hurricanes. I believe they can send him straight to the AHL without having to subject him to waivers.

Re: Ty Rattie a Hurricane
This is true if the Blues were the only team to submit a waiver claim. If any of the teams ahead of the Blues in the standings also submitted a claim, he would have to clear waivers again.cardsfan04 wrote:Blues claimed Rattie back from Hurricanes. It's not like Rattie was lighting it up for a sub-par Carolina team either. He couldn't crack their lineup. He only played 5 of 17 games for the Hurricanes. Don't really get this move, considering he isn't going to crack the Blues lineup either. If he were worth anything in a trade, that likely would have happened awhile ago. Doubt any team considers Rattie worth any trade value when he's been waived twice this season already and the team which claimed him first, barely played him, then waived him.
Time to move on from the Ty Rattie area.

Guess it could help on that front with depth and whatnot. I think it was probably just getting their guy back that they didn't want to lose in the first place though.
