The refs were playing nervous, tonight, overturning themselves.

When the ref called two matching roughing minors, that wasn't consistent with the original penalty call.

The ref signaled a penalty as the Stars player collided with Binnington. The ref has two options here: He's either calling the Blues player for the hook, or the Stars player for goalie interference. But he certainly wouldn't be calling a "roughing." So the fact we ended up with 4 roughing minors doesn't make sense.

The 2nd odd officiating was calling the goal against us that clearly went it after the whistle was blown. I have no problem with the goal itself: if it was no goal, then the ref would be guilty of blowing the whistle too early. But what surprises me is the official calling it a goal after he blew the whistle - clearly before the puck crossed the line.

Officials have ruled "no goal" for mere INTENT to blow the whistle - but in this case, the actual whistle was blown before the puck crossed the line; and since a blown whistle stops the time and kills play, the puck went in after the time would have technically stopped.

I've never seen an official count a goal when the puck crosses the line after a blown whistle.

Good 1st game, but they need to keep Bishop busier. From a numbers standpoint he had a lousy game. He won’t do that again unless the Blues force him to.

Similar to that Wheeler, Shiefle, Conner line, if the Blues can do damage control on Benn & Seguin we're in good shape.

I hope the momentum from the previous series win carries over.

The double minor on Dunn was because he went after the Stars player. They didn't call the instigator which includes a misconduct and would have taken Dunn completely out of the game, but gave him an extra roughing minor, instead. They did make the initial call of goalie interference from when the arm initially went up.

Lots of back and forth in this game with each team taking turns controlling the puck in the offensive zone, but the Blues shut down the Stars top line so well, Montgomery was forced to break them up. The Blues just need to be better against the Stars 4th line.
