What about those bonuses?
I think the Blues sent down 3 guys (Joshua, Rosen, someone else maybe) and Clifford on waivers to make room

When Krug returns Walman or Mikkola gets sent down, assuming they clear waivers. Mikkola creates more cap space and if Perunovich is going to play, Walman/Mikkola becomes the 7th defenseman. Krug/Faulk; Perunovich/Parayko; Scandella/Bortuzzo. Mikkola is off the Covid list. Husso and Krug should be off by tomorrow also.

I'm curious as to how the Blues manage it when Sundqvist returns with Perunovich recalled. IMO, there is something still in the works and will happen relatively soon. Looking at CapFriendly, making space for Sundqvist's return looks easy. Add in Perunovich and the bonuses Armstrong was worried about, something still needs to give.

It also looks like Schenn will be back vs the Coyotes on Tuesday with Joshua being sent down.

Did some reading on CapFriendly on performance bonuses. Here is the most relevant part:
a team can exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses by the maximum performance bonus cushion amount of 7.5 percent of the upper limit
That's 6.1125M they can go over which completely covers Perunovich for this season. The catch, whatever the overage is carries over to the next season and at most, it's 1.25M. Blues should easily be able to absorb that next season. Works for me, since I believe "Dealing Doug" isn't finished still.
