Series Thread: Cards v Padres March 31-Apr 3

Postby dmiles2186 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 3:25 pm

Game 1: Padres 5 Cards 3 F/11
Game 2: Sat Apr 2 @ 3:10 PM Central
Game 3: Sun Apr 3 @ 1:15 PM Central

Figured we'd try the ol' series threads out like we did a few years ago. Hope this will catch on.

The Padres are garbage since they let Gonzo go. I'm frankly shocked they even won the first game against Carpenter. Taking the Cards to win 2 and 3. The Padres offense just won't be there all year, they'll lose almost 100, most likely.

I can't believe the final score today. San Diego simply isn't that good, and St. Louis simply isn't that bad.

agreed. We should just trade Pujols now. We can go 0-2 without him just as easily as we did with him.

Yeesh. Today was awful. Got out of hand pretty quickly.

Also, I like Mark Grace even though he's a former Cub. But man, he's one crapass announcer.

bleh, had to work today, so didn't see any of it. But, CG SO 9K 4H (I think that's what I heard Shannan say) is sick.

Even last year, I was just lukewarm on Garcia as he got into soooooo many jams (but found ways out of them somehow). After a mediocre 2nd half, injury at the end of last year, and a very poor spring, I pretty much expected him to be the clear number 5 on the staff. Hopefully this is a sign that I was wrong.

And, since when does LaRussa allow starters to finish games, especially in April?

Was a surprise for sure. Franklin was up throwing in the 8th and Jaime came to bat in the bottom of the frame, but they didn't pull him back. Heading into the 9th, they showed Franklin sitting down, hanging out in the bullpen.

Glad to see Jaime throw one heckuva game the first time out this season.

Considering he probably had one of the worst springs out of the entire team, it was certainly nice for us fans to see that kind of performance, but I can only imagine how much good id did for his own self confidence.
