No Boulevard Pale Ale in that purchase? Coach Self would be ashamed.

Actually, I almost got one of the new Boulevard Smokestack Series, Quadruple, "The Sixth Glass" but I put it back on the shelf for an authentic Belgian Quadruple that I didn't list above.

I'll probably eventually try out the series.

Talked to H&R Block yesterday and they said that there was a discrepancy for people who had the preparer's fee taken out of the direct deposit amount of their refund. Shouldn't be more than another week or so. Either way, they seemed on top of the issue and I am no longer afraid that Uncle Sam will dis'n me.

Not the same situation here. I used an online service, but had to pay hundreds of dollars to the government. So there was no money to deduct from a refund. Perhaps the use of this service has caused similar problems though...for some reason.

Boulevard released some more malted brews like the Quadrupple that are not of their weaker Pale Ale and Wheat brands that people flock to for some reason. I'm not a big Boulevard fan, but I was willing to give their Triple Malt, Quad Malt and Hops infused IPA a swirl just for historical sake.

I generally don't mind visiting heavily malted beers like Dopplebocks, a matter of fact I drank several gallons of Dopplebock not long after the holidays over a 5 week period, but I generally like to scale it back a notch just out of personal preference. Tripels are my sweet spot for flavor, balance, aroma and ABV (La Fin Du Monde, Westmalle and St Bernardus to name a few favorites).

Mine finally showed up via direct deposit, but was half what I expected it to be. Dammit, I made jack franking SHIT last year; MY economy needs stimulating more than most people's! :?

Anybody know the reason for the discrepancy in the amounts people were given? My brother made a decent living last year and got $600; I ended up with $300. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

For individuals, the more you make, the higher stimulus check you get. There is a ceiling/cutoff point though. People over a certain amount do not get anything at all.

Think of it in a quasi-proportional way and it will make more sense to you.

Plesae don’t take this the wrong way, but your brother probably received more money because he pays quite a bit more in taxes.

The government isn't really giving money away...it is just returning money it should have never taken due to over taxation.

I've heard there's all kinds of errors in the amounts people were supposed to get and what they actually got.

I still haven't got mine yet.

I've only had La Fin Du Monde at the microfest a long ass time ago with guppy, Steve Inebriated, h. businessman and some guy named "Hollywood." I see they stock it at Schnucks now.

you shold try that celebrator though. it is consistently the highest rated dopplebock in the world as far as I can tell. It's absolutely stellar. Plus, there's a cool little plastic goat trinket on each bottle. :okman:

I'm definitely going to try the Celebrator, I've heard a lot of great things about it. I'll probably go grab some on Friday. You can La Fin Du Monde at a few different places now, I didn't know Schnucks was stocking it, but you can also get it at Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Lukas. A lot of people were talking up the Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewery, so I finally picked up a 6-er and although I wasn't a big fan of it, it had a ton of flavor and was very well crafted so I could see the draw to it for Stout lovers - if you like the genre of Stout, I recommend you give that one a whirl: Whole Foods or Lukas has it the last I saw.

I'll check it out. I'm not a Stout drinker per se but sometimes I really crave it. I'm actually more of a Hefe drinker to tell the truth, with the darker beers being my sort of second choice. It varies.

I think the Sam Adams Cream and Schlafly Oatmeal are the best stouts to buy at say Schnucks. I think they are actually pretty darn good. In fact, I think those are the two best beers those two breweries have to offer.

No sweat--I can't take it the wrong way; I fully acknowledge I made an amount welllllll below poverty level last year, solely because I was going to school full time at the same time. If I'd worked enough to make a decent living AND gone to school, I'd have hanged myself inside of a week anyway, thus rendering this whole conversation moot. ;)

Thanks for the info! I sorta thought that's what the case might've been, but was hoping someone just franked up and I'd have more $$ forthcoming. Bah.

Sam Adams was a brand I'd always avoided for some reason. The whole "we're a microbrew with major advertising" thing just always sorta bothered me for some silly reason and I tried their Boston Ale and didn't dig it, but I bought that Cream Stout a few months ago on sale and was pleasantly surprised.
