Has anybody ever heard of the red rings of death in the xbox 360? Because I just got them

Apparently its some fatal flaw in the 360? The green lights that usually mean "good" when you turn on the 360 turn red and mean "bad" and it stops working.

I havent looked into it yet but I guess you have to send it back into microsoft and they fix it... a recall of sorts. Somebody told me 1 in 3 gets screwed up like this.

Yep, you're screwed. Send it in to Microsoft....

This is the reason I haven't bought a 360 since the first one I had Red Ringed in the menu and I didn't even get to play a single game on it. I just returned it and didn't bother sending it to Microsoft. I've heard the return process is kind of a pain as well.

Return process takes anywhere from 3 weeks (one of my buddies) to a month and a half (another friend of mine)

If my first 360 hadn't red-ringed on me within 10 minutes of playing it (I hadn't even played a game yet) this would be an easy question.

Yeah, but those issues have already been addressed with the Falcon chipset.

So how do you know you are getting one with the good chipset?

Haven't. Heard as addicting at Guitar Hero though...

I have. It's fun.
The guitar seems to be well made, but I found it harder to use....especially on fast songs. The strum flipper seemed a bit mushy to me.
I think I prefer the whole, "note hitting process" of Guitar Hero a little better.
It's fun though.
