THE IN? READY TO SERVE AN INTOXICATING DEBUT WITH AN AMERICAN COCKTAIL
St. Louis-based progressive rock band to celebrate with CD release party on November 21st.
ST. LOUIS, MO – There comes a time in every musical collective’s life where the unavoidable need to channel the raw energy and spontaneity of live performance into a studio setting takes hold. It’s no small feat and a daunting task that guitarist Nathan Graves, multi-instrumentalist Chris Wilson, drummer Mike Schurk and bassist Dan Huck – the fiercely progressive foursome known as The In? – tackled with the same intensity they bring to every show they play. The result is their boldly built, 12-track debut AN AMERICAN COCKTAIL, set to release November 21st in conjunction with a pre-Thanksgiving appearance alongside Team Relevance at Cruisin’ Route 66 Bar and Grill.
According to the group’s founder and front man Nathan Graves, “It’s simply been an amazing experience.â€
“Translating our sound, our approach, our energy, our style…everything…has been both a challenge and an opportunity to define and refine who we are as a performing unit,†Graves continues. “While it seems that the natural thing to do and maybe even the expected thing to do is to pull back when you step foot into a studio as a band for the first time, we were determined to do just the opposite. We wanted to be positive that this album was truly representative of what we are and want to be as a band.â€
Recorded and produced with the assistance of Nick Lowery at Bossman Studios (noted for his most recent work with perennial area favorite Madahoochi) over the course of the past 4 months, the group is currently working through all the post-studio back-flips required to bring their debut to the masses. Those looking for an early taste, however, can sample two cuts (“Fellow’s Eyes†and “What You Been Thinkingâ€) by visiting the band’s web site (http://www.theinmusic.com) and clicking on the “Listen†tab or using the direct links below.

“What You Been Thinking†– http://www.theinmusic.com/mp3/album/wybt.mp3
“With so much of the band’s energy being focused inward these past few months in the studio, it’s going to be great to share the results of that experience with our longtime friends and fans in a more outward fashion with our upcoming gigs,†explains one-man horn section Chris Wilson. “Not only do we get to show everyone what we’ve been up to by bringing them AN AMERICAN COCKTAIL, we’ll also have the chance to kick some new tunes out into our setlist as a result and maybe even show off a few new tricks or two when it comes to our ongoing improvisational explorations.â€
The In? will be appearing on Wednesday, November 21st at 8pm at the Cruisin’ Route 66 Bar and Grill with special guests, Team Relevance. The debut release from The In? – AN AMERICAN COCKTAIL – will be available for purchase at the show as well as online at http://www.theinmusic.com/merch.
