I read an article on STLtoday last week about how "this is the time of the year where there is a sports lull and nothing good is on". I guess that means the masses settle for hockey since there's no division 2 women's softball on.

We're expecting our first child in September and I need a new car. My old 1998 Pontiac Sunfire is about done. Even though it runs great and has been extremely reliable, it's only a two door and you can't haul a lot in it. Plus it has faded paint in some spots, tiny rust spots starting to form at the bottom corner of the doors, paint chipping around the edges of the trunk...plus, my wife backed into our garage door with it last October...so it's scratched up a bit in the back.

So, after analyzing numerous larger vehicles that met our needs and wants in a car/truck/van, I decided on a Jeep Liberty. I found one on craigslist, test drove it and loved it...and I got a pretty good deal on it too. I'll be paying cash for it this week...so no car payment! Which is the reason I went with a used car.
The only downside to it is, obviously, the gas mileage, which isn't good. But my drive to work is only 5-10 minutes...so it's not a big deal.

It should be delivered later this week. :okman:

Anyone want to buy a used 1998 Sunfire?

Thanks guys... it's exciting and hella scary at the same time. I'm not scared of being a father, I'll be just fine...but I'm scared for what my wife is and will be going through.
I'm going to be a nervous wreck the day she delivers. I just want the process to go smooth and the mom and baby to be fine.

And about the Jeep...the guy I am buying it from a guy who still owes on it. So he has to pay it off, which he did today I think. And once he gets the clean title, then I'll hand over $10k. So I guess it will be another week or so. How long does it take to get a title mailed to you after paying off a car? I paid off my car years ago, but I can't remember how long it took to get the title.

I've only bought one car where the bank still had the title. They sat on it for like 3 weeks before they finally mailed the damn thing. In the meantime the car was sitting in the parking lot, unable to drive it or get it inspected and licensed. I don't think I could get a temp tag because of goofy Texas laws and buying the car out of state.

It took less than a week to get the title on the car I bought in December.

Hopefully this is the case, and not 3 weeks like Big D Note said it took to get his title. It would be aggravating to agree on a price for a car and then have to wait three weeks to get it, while he drives it around.

I would imagine he (the seller) may have said something to Chrysler (who the loan was through) about getting the title as quickly as possible, as he acted like paying the car off will have drained most of his savings. The sooner he gets the title, the sooner he gets $10k from me.

Missouri titles take about a week.. I asked about it as I bought a car earlier this year and obviously had it titled (as well as having to re-title my old one before selling it b/c I'd lost the old one).. Apparently they no longer have to go through Jeff City so they get processed pretty quickly.

Well, that's good news.

Thank you sir.

I just finished up a "weight loss challenge" with my brother, his wife and a friend of ours.
I lost 30 lbs. in 10 weeks and that was 95% due to drastically improving my diet. I didn't work out that much, but I do play hockey on Sundays for two hours and volleyball one night during the week. That's really about it.
If you work out a few times a week, you'll probably get even better results than I got.

10 weeks ago I weighed in at 221...now I weigh 191. I'd like to get to around 180. That would be ideal I think.
My brother also lost 30 pounds. We were the top two losers in the contest.
And the two girls that did this with us lost less than 10 each, but they didn't have much to lose in the first place.
Our team won the contest with just over 10% body fat loss as a whole. (I lost 13% and my brother lost 15%) and we each won $150. It's not much money...but combine that with losing 30 lbs...and it's pretty cool overall deal.

The most important part of the contest was that we were encouraged to eat 6 small and healthy meals a day instead of 3 large meals. And believe me, that shit works. That increases your metabolism and allows for natural fat burning throughout the day.

Over the course of the contest, I ate lots of chicken, fish, brown rice, fruits & vegetables, eggs, whole wheat grains, steel cut oatmeal, etc...and lots of water. It was a diet heavy on protein.

Tips:
- No soda. I used to drink about a bottle of soda a day, and it is one of the worst things you can put into your body.
- No candy.
- No alchohol. (ugh)
- No artificial sugars or sweeteners.
- Drink lots and lots of water. Up to two gallons a day.
- If you want to add butter, use real butter...not margarine. Neither is good for you, but butter is natural, margarine is not. Your body processes butter much better than margarine.
- Use sea salt instead of table salt if you have to use salt. It's better for you and it tastes better.
- Use raw sugar instead of processed sugar if you have to use sugar.
- Stay away from things that use enriched white flour...and try to buy bread and pasta made with whole wheat flour if you have to have pasta. But go easy on the bread and pasta.
- Try and eat natural foods and less pre-packaged stuff.
- Don't drink your calories.

I spent a lot of time reading labels in the supermarket. It was educational...and in a weird way, fun.

I really notice the difference when playing hockey now. I have a lot more energy and I am not sucking wind on the bench...and my play has improved quite a bit. And of course, none of my clothes fit anymore.

I'm not as strict with the diet now that the contest is over, but I still maintain most aspects of it.

Anyone looking to lose a few pounds should try this...it works. :okman:

I still rock the discs you sent me years ago. They have gotten me pulled over by the cops twice.

They are good for that! You need to watch this, and then all the related videos from that show. Great taste of the 'Dealer live!
