Holy crap...a ton of stuff was done on our house this week.
Probably the most productive week to date on the house.

Siding was finally finished, geothermal has begun to be put in (should be finished next week), septic was put in, half the driveway slab was poured (will be finished next week), half the back patio was poured (will be finished next week), the stone was applied to the front of the house, the large cedar mantle is ready to put up, the walls have been primed, ceilings have been textured, and most of the paint should go on today, the water line was buried and run inside the house, rock was put down on the long ass driveway.

We were going to lay the hardwood this weekend, but the painter probably won't be done today. So...hardwood next week and cabinets next weekend. We're getting there....finally.

I'll be taking pictures of the stone, the paintjob, the mantle & the poured concrete on Saturday.

If next week's progress is like this week's, we'll be moving in in a couple weeks.

So, the key to success in three easy steps:

1. Start forum supporting NHL team

2. ?

3. Buy giant compound on large body of water.

The place looks great - congrats!

Looks like you're looping your geo coils in the lake? How far down did they bury them INTO the lake?

How many ton system did they slap in? Any zones?

I think the lines are six feet down where they enter the house and six feet under the water surface when they emerge from the lake bottom. The lines aren't connected to the coil platform yet. That is supposed to be sunk to the bottom of the lake on Thursday/Friday (It was supposed to go in last Thursday or Friday). That should sit at least 8 feet below the surface, which shouldn't be a problem since that lake is over 20 feet deep in some spots.

I can't remember the tonage of the system. And no zones...we'll see how that works out. Our sq. footage isn't massive by any means, so we'll see. We sprung for 2x6 exterior walls and blown fiberglass insulation, and I spray foamed around all of the windows, doors and corner gaps in the exterior plywood walls before the siding went up, so our house should be extremely well insulated and sealed. We also have radiant floor heating under the tile in the master bath...so that will help maintain a warmer bathroom in the winter time...something that is necessary if you have an open shower like we do. ;)

I want to get the geo system installed and running for a couple days before I lay the engineered flooring. I know some people say you don't need to acclimate engineered wood, but I want to give it a couple days to acclimate, just to be safe. Did you install any engineered wood? If so, did you acclimate it before putting it down? The Schmeiders just built a house 5 minutes from our place, and their builder didn't acclimate their engineered wood.

I found out it was a six ton system...which is a little more than our house requires...I was told that our system will be a little more effecient than it would normally be because of this...so that's cool. And like I said, no zones, however, I was told they set the system up to easily convert to zones if we felt that down the road it was necessary.

And our thermostat is pretty kick ass. It's the most high tech thermostat I have ever seen. It's large and all touch screen. Pretty cool stuff.
