That does suck though.

It was an online class with mid-terms and finals on site so the prof got to pick. Lots of 'Rock Star' and I got 198 points out of 200 so no loss, but still a really bad idea.

I have a client that needs me to run a test for them to simulate ~20,000 of their employees using a certain financial system that's scheduled for next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

For the past 3 weeks I've been hounding them for the data I need to run this test. No response.

Today their project manager asks me "We all set for next week? Got everything you need?"

I told him I'm sending out the cancellation notices today because they haven't given me anything.



So now they're scrambling like mad... "I wasn't aware that you were waiting on anything from us!!" Since I was already in CYA mode with these folks I pull out the "I'm including everyone including my boss, his boss, your boss, your boss' boss, and tacking on the 6 emails since 12/7 where I've asked for this information" email and got nothing.

Someone will get bitched at no doubt, and I'll likely be putting in 15+ hour days next week in a mad scramble because of their laziness.

My wife used to work at Monster Commerce in Swansea (owned by Network Solutions...which is a shit company to work for...Monster Commerce was great before Netsol took over). She quit there a handful of years ago to become a professional photographer, which she is now. She still has friends that work there and she was told that Monster Commerce laid off an entire division two weeks before xmas. Bunch of douches.

I'm not sure why businesses find it necessary to do major layoffs around the holidays. They could have done this in November or waited until February or something. Gotta maintain that bottom line and stick it to the little guys so the big bucks keep rolling in for the CEO.
