Well, actually some Cardinal news after a long time off for the holidays..

The Cardinals signed Matt Clement to a 1-year contract it has a $1.25MM base with another $5.25MM in incentives for '08. It has a '09 option worth $8.75MM which can increase depending on the amount of innings pitched.

This is a awesome low-risk signing, its cheap and if he flops they can decline his option for '09.
Clement has not pitched since '06 with the Boston Red Sox. He has been rehabbing for 14-months because of a shoulder injury. Reports indicate his velocity has returned but he is still working on his control. He is going to get the chance to pitch his way onto the team in Spring Training.

I believe if Clement is truly healthy this is a great signing for the Cards not to mention its only $1.25MM dollars...... great news today!

Meanwhile, in a related developement, the Cardinals have released Fredbird and replaced him with the Dirt Cheap Chicken, who will work for less money.

In a related story, the Cardinals have released Yadier Molina and contracted Jose Oquendo to catch for the team in 2008.

Only cause Tony Pena was busy, and they can't get ahold of Darryl Porter for anything.

As a complete dork with a rudimentary knowledge of high school physics, this sentence makes no sense.

Velocity is speed + vector. So, his speed has returned... but not his vector (control). ;)

 Do you have any idea how many 8 balls it would take to wake up Darryl Porter?

Do you have a vector, Victor?

Velocity is a rate of speed using derived units such as miles per hour or kilometers per second, wherein your velocity can increase but your control can decrease because the two are independent of each other.

If you increase the velocity of your car on an icy pavement, your control of the car will decrease. An increase in velocity does not always = an increase in control. More often than not, one would suspect that they're actually inversely related.
