Is it possible to buy a Wii now?

My wife wants one and everywhere is sold out. I don't want a bundle either, just the sports version for $250. Any help is appreciated, but I'm guessing I'm franked.
Discuss the St. Louis Blues, the NHL, or whatever.

Nope, apparently not.cprice12 wrote:Stores are still selling out relatively quickly...it's hit or miss. You just need to find out when they get shipments in and show up that day...sooner or later you'll get one. They've been out for a friggin' year. Nintendo, while being a smart business move, is screwing over the consumers who just want to buy their product for Christ's sake.
Here's an idea...up production a tad.
Couldn't you always just put your name on a list at GameStop or somewhere and reserve one?
Is that l33t for buttsecks?ohio BLUES wrote:Does the Wii do HDMI?
Just Curious.
Yikes, no wonder it's $250.kodos wrote:No HDMI. You can buy Component cables though.
It doesn't do hi-def at all. Just 480p.
Exactly, I don't see the hype. I have played the Wii quite a bit, and it just doesn't do anything for me.kodos wrote:It's basically a GameCube with a fancy controller.
I disagree. I enjoy mine quite a bit. People certainly aren't goin ape$hit like this for PS3 and 3-$hitty.kodos wrote:It's basically a GameCube with a fancy controller.
Hmmm...well, I had heard they weren't making as many as they could be making.kodos wrote:Gamestop doesn't do pre-orders on consoles anymore.
Nintendo did double their production. The demand is just as high all over the world.
Nintendo makes over a million Wiis a month. That is a crazy amount. More then any console in history. To up production they would have to make a new factory, which isn't really feasible or smart in the long term.
It has been almost impossible to find for more then a year now. It's not suddenly going to start showing up on shelves because Xmas is over. If you couldn't easily find one in the summer of 2007, you won't be able to find one now.
The demand for this thing is insane.
Personally, I don't get it, but whatever.
I mean, yeah, I understand why it's popular, I just don't understand why it's this popular.
The Wii is fun. It's a nice thing to have at a party as well. It's a crowd pleaser. And the controller is the whole thing. Without that, it's not in high demand like it is. It's genius really. It's a much less powerful system than the PS3 or XBOX360...but it's much more popular.Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:I disagree. I enjoy mine quite a bit. Yes, everyone I know who has one has theirs "in the shop." Hmmm... release a flawed product knowingly? Let the public do your beta-testing?cprice12 wrote:The Wii is fun. Speaking of the Xbox...how many of you guys have had troubles with yours?
A friend of mine at Slacker's was telling me around 35% of them have to go "in the shop" because they broke. I also read a blog of a guy who is on his 5th Xbox already because they have all broken. That's crazy.
