Not necessarily the best of all time...but my favorites, in no particular order:

- O Brother Where Art Thou?
- Snatch
- Lord of the Rings (trilogy...it's all one movie)
- Star Wars (hexilogy...or whatever you call a six part movie)
- Sin City
- Jaws
- Shawshank Redemption
- Pulp Fiction
- Back To The Future (trilogy)

A little part of me dies whenever someone mentions Boondock Saints as one of the best movies of all time. What is the obsession about? I've seen it, but I would never go as far as to say it's "great".

My list:

The Big Lebowski
2001 A Space Odyssey
Alien
Bonnie & Clyde
Saving Private Ryan
Crash
The Deer Hunter
Get Carter (the original with Michael Caine)
Stalingrad (German film and perhaps the most brutal war movie evar)
Das Boot
Dr. Zhivago
Muriel's Wedding (Toni Collette is a genius)
In The Name of The Father (Emma Thompson is a genius)
The Last Picture Show
Chinatown
The Longest Day
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (sentimental pick)
Dummy (uh, Milla. 'nuff said)
Easy Rider
Mississippi Burning (Frances McDormand and Gene Hackman are both geniuses)
Unforgiven (Greatest denouement of any film I can think of)
Von Ryan's Express
Network
Taxi Driver
Barfly (Faye is nails, as usual)
Braveheart
Chopper
Shine
Halloween
Carrie
Shawshank Redemption

I could go on for several hours...

I found that film to be perhaps the most depressing thing I have ever seen. I guess since it's the "most" something, I should give it its due. I just don't understand why people love that film as much as they do. There isn't a single redeemable character as far as I can remember. A horribly depressing film that I cannot endorse, not that you give a crap, of course. ;) Maybe you can shed light on what's good about it.

Yes, J Connelly shows some skin. But a younger and hotter J Connelly shows MORE in The Hot Spot. ;)

The French Connection..... Ever pick your feet in Poughkeepsie???

and Good Lord, did we REALLY get this far without someone mentioning The Godfather???? :aaaa:

And 2001 was really good up until it made the abrupt left turn into a bad 70's Pink Floyd video.......

I don't really know how to explain why I like that movie except I tend to be that guy that laughs when you are not supposed to be laughing during movies...

Just a big fan of dark comedys i guess...

Harold and Maude, i think the music make it great...

I don't get it either.
I've seen it...and I wasn't impressed. I kept waiting for it to get good and it never really did.
Maybe it was built up too much for me.
