CARDINALS VS. PITTSBURGH AT PNC PARK

6:05 p.m. Wednesday, FSN Midwest
RHP Todd Wellemeyer (2-0, 3.24 ERA) vs. RHP Ian Snell (2-1, 4.07)

6:05 p.m. Thursday, FSN Midwest
RHP Joel Pineiro (0-2, 8.10) vs. LHP Tom Gorzelanny (1-2, 9.35)

Scouting the Pirates
• Pirates outfielder Nate McLouth, who had to win a job in spring training, soared into the season, riding a 19-game hitting streak into Tuesday night’s game. The fourth-year outfielder took a .375 average, a .638 slugging percentage and 16 RBIs into the game against Florida.

• Snell is 3-3 with a 3.40 ERA in eight games (seven starts) against the Cardinals.

• Gorzelanny was expected to be the Bucs’ stalwart at the top of the rotation. Yet he’s struggled with control. Gorzelanny has failed to finish the third inning in two of his four starts. He’s allowed 15 walks and 22 hits in 17 1/3 innings this season.

• In 54 games at PNC Park, Albert Pujols has hit 20 home runs, the most of any ballpark except Busch or Minute Maid.

Need to rebound tonight and start the Houston series on a good note. Especially since I will be at Friday night's game! Good news that Oswalt will face Wainwright on Saturday. Pineiro needs a good start tonight to get back on track.

Nice win tonight. With the Cubs losing tonight, we picked up a game on them.

A good start by Piniero too. That was refreshing to see. Even though we went 2-2 on the trip, and 3-5 over our last 8, we were in every single game except one. That is a good, good sign.
