Same Old Cub Fans

Geez...Cub fans say this stuff every single God-foresaken year.
It gets old...and pathetic.
Every year they throw out all of these stats that say why so and so for the Cardinals shouldn't be playing as well as they are, and that their success won't last long because of these numbers and those numbers, LaRussa over-manages his teams, they get luck with pitchers and no name guys, etc, blah, blah. And what happens in the end? The Cardinals win divisions and win championships... and the Cubs haven't won a World Series in 100 years. Maybe they should be pushing for their ownership group to copy what the Cardinals are doing instead of criticizing them. (just a thought)

I dunno. The Cardinals may cool off, or they may not. But it's funny to hear how confident and sure Cub fans are that the Cardinals are really a horrible team, masquerading as a good team...and how talented the Cubs and Brewers are compared to St. Louis. And it's hilarious how almost every year it plays out differently on the field.

Numbers, Sabermetrics, OPS, etc... don't mean squat if those things don't transfer into wins on the field.

Same whining Cub fans...different year.

Here are some comments from Cub fans about the Cardinals at http://www.northsidebaseball.com
http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/ ... 29&t=48205

Unless the Cardinals taste the postseason chance here, and make a couple trades over the next couple months, you don't have to worry about them.

kip wells and looper had a good start last year too

theyre awful

They played 2 more games this month than we did.

They are crappy.

In the physical sense yes, the Cards will be here til July. In the sense of hanging around in the race, I don't think the Cubs and Brewers have that kind of choke job in them.

Yeah it's outrageous to think the 2 vastly more talented teams won't both simultaneously blow it because after all they can't tell people to count the ringz!!

The Cardinals have played 75 percent of their schedule against teams with below-average slugging percentages. When that changes, they’ll allow more home runs, more runs, and slip away from the top of the NL Central.
More goodness:
http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/ ... 29&t=47435

Eventually the players are going to realize they ain't as good as their April is suggesting, and by May the Cards will fall back into their spot in the NL Central. You can't rely on 4 crappy pitchers, and one good pitcher for the whole season.

They have a tough month of June. If they haven't been buried by then, they will be in June.

Didn't we say the same thing in '06???

i'm pretty glad they've gotten off to such a strong start. this will surely delude LaRussa into thinking they're a contender and further delay the rebuilding process they should have started last August.

there is absolutely no plausible scenario where they're still challenging for the division come July.

It is absolutely -beyond- me how some of you are counting the Cardinals out already. I mean, have you been paying attention the last 30 years? Superior management and coaching regularly produces fundamentally sound teams, and they sometimes turn into unexpected winners.

you still need talent, something they are short on.

The Cardinals have some talent, just not that much and not as much as the Cubs and Brewers.

lol at thinking that Mulder or Carpenter will do anything this year...

I agree, their talent level is definitely below that of Chicago and Milwaukee, and maybe even Cincy.

The problem there is....the Cards no longer have a Whitey Herzog, or a Walt Jockerty as manager or GM of the franchise. LaRussa is an overrated douche, who won on the backs of players like McGwire, Canseco, Henderson(s), Honeycutt, Stewart, Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, etc, etc, etc. And he micro manages his team, which means the pressure is on Dave Duncan to get the most out of his pitchers. In other words...the Cards no longer has the "superior management" they once had. Their current GM, doesn't have the track record as a GM, and again LaRussa may be the MOST OVERRATED manager in all of baseball, possibly second to Joe Torre.

Eventually, the pixie dust is going to wear out for the Cubs, and they should finish around the 72-78 wins this season.

One of northsidebaseball.com's GDT rules:
--Some friendly advice for fans of other teams: tread gently in the game threads. This is a Cubs fan site. Actively rooting against the team in the game threads may mean that your visit to the site will be a brief one.
Wrigley field is the Cubs home park, but do they ban opposing fans from buying tickets and rooting against the Cubs?
How stupid would that be?

Having fans of other teams participate in GDT's is entertaining to say the least. God forbid someone share an opposing / outsider's opinion. The horror.

Really? So how are the Cubs going to win the division?

Zambrano

Dempster
Marquis
Hill
Lilly

And also, I love how they talk about La Russa micromanaging a team when he's got as many World Series championships as their entire franchise.

Just sayin'.

I think I got banned from that site a number of years ago. Don't even remember what I said, they just were able to discern I wasn't a Cubs fan and so the boot I got.

I was thinking the same thing.
And to be honest, I'm not sure why everyone was drooling over the Cubs before the season started. Sure, they'll score some runs with their lineup, but their pitching isn't anything to get excited about at all. Zambrano is all they really have...and over the course of the season, I'd imagine it will play out that way.

Coming into the season, anyone who said the Cardinals had crappy pitching, would have to say the same thing about the Cubs.

LaRussa rode on the backs of his players, what role did they want the manager to play in winning a championship?? LaRussa puts pressure on Duncan to get everything out of the pitching staff.....? YEAH, that's what he should do.

Cubs fans really are (Franking) morons.

That site is so ridiculous, it's hilarious.
Here's more funny stuff from Cub fans at northsidebaseball.com:
It is going to beautiful when the cards realize they suck, and nose dive in the standings.
Meh. Lohse did the same thing last April then got torched the rest of the year. Looper had a similar start last year as well and wilted under the workload. Wellemeyer's given up 6 HR already, and should fall off if everyone realizes that he can't throw anything besides his straight-as-an-arrow fastball for a strike(I swear I yelled this at the TV a dozen times last night). Also, on the whole I think their opponents have helped their numbers as well, we were the first team they'd played over 32 games that was in the upper half of the NL in OPS.
We should have swept them this weekend. After playing them I am not worried about them. We are playing pretty crappy right now and we still should have swept them.
We gave away the first game and anyone who was watching knows it.
When is the payback for you guys winning it all with a minor league team two years ago?
If cards don't blow this, cubs down 2.5...I'm starting to get uncomfortable. I don't wanna let the cards hang around.
(I like how they think they are supposed to win the division. When did Cub fans earn the right to be cocky about anything except losing??)
I hate that this crap happens every year with the Cardinals. WTH did they do to catch all of the breaks in every game?
Yep, they are totally winning the division this year. But, they will deserve it. I mean they have two or three big leaguers.
We better not lose the division to friggin Pujols, Glaus, Wainright, and minor leaguers.

This is fun.
The Cardinals are going to win the division. I can just feel it. It will be the most befuddling of all their crap titles.
I'm appalled that we lost 2 of 3 to these guys. I hope they understand how lucky they are. They didn't beat us either of those two losses, we beat ourselves more than anything.
I'm appalled they have the 2nd best record in the nat'l league. I seriously can't wait to see them start getting unlucky.
All of this talk about the Cardinals roster being inferior to the Cubs roster is hilarious.
I don't get it. What is so great about the Cubs roster?
The Cubs just sent down Hill to the minors and put Marquis in the bullpen.
Yeah, their pitching staff is so great that they just replaced two of the five starters...and I heard Pie is being send down. How good can your team be if you are demoting your starters left and right?

I joined over there a couple years ago and I got banned for posting in a GDT.
It was when Derrick Lee got hurt on a collision at first base. I was watching the game (they werent' playing the Cardinals) and decided to post what I saw since it was game related...and I promptly got banned because I was a Cardinal fan posting in a Cubs GDT.

I just find that place hilarious to read. It's like a train wreck...you have to look.

That place is the very definition of "circle jerk".

It took me all of 10 minutes to get banned on that site a couple years ago. I knew the ax was coming when I signed up, so I went ahead and let it all hang out from the first post on...

The Cubbettes are so good, they signed Edmonds, who clearly appears to be on the down turn and headed towards retirement.

They hated Edmonds too...it's kind of funny that some people are accepting of the guy they used to make fun of and call him names regarding his sexuality.

Saying so and so is gay because of this or that, is a 5th grade thing to say. I always rolled my eyes at those comments. Dumb.

Exactly. I saw one of the dumbest statements I've ever read on a Facebook MLB group the other day. This is what a Cubs fan said...

"And though I still think he has sexuality issues, it won't matter if I get to rock championship apparel in November."

HUH? :moran:
