Braden Looper vs. Chris R. Young

Ummm....we won the first game.
Nice win...4 homers and an 8-2 win.

That's three in a row. We needed a little streak to get us out of that funk we were in.
We're only two games out...and a game and a half up on the Astros, who have cooled off a bit, losing 3 of their last 4.

The only game I am concerned about, is Wednesday's game when we face Chris Young. That one is going to be tough.

Real good start to the series. We need to beat Maddux tonight, because beating Chris Young on Wednesday won't be easy.

Historically, the Cardinals haven't done well against Maddux. Hopefully, this new younger team won't know anythingi about taht history. :)

Yea, but peep his last three games, he hasn't been so hot...15.3 total innings, 10 runs, and 25 hits.

Do I have to repeat the theme of this season. The Cardinals keep playing like crap in terms of generating runs when the opposing pitching is crappy. Even when Maddux was on other teams and having an off 2 or 3 weeks, the Cardinals always seemed to cure his ills. Hoping that doesn't continue tonight.

Is it clear now? Greg Maddux was struggling. Here come the Cardinals on a 3-game winning streak.

"St. Louis hit into three double plays and sent the minimum number of batters to the plate from the third through the seventh inning. The Cardinals didn't get a runner to second base after the second frame." Hmm....

Add on to that, it was pretty darn clear watching the game, after Pineiro's 2nd walk in the 6th, his stuff was gone. Yet he stayed in the game. His pitch location had been erratic the entire game, but in the 6th it went completely awry.

So the Cardinals struggle hitting Maddux after the 2nd inning - which is kind of what has always happened to the Cardinals when they play Maddux. And, TLR probably made a mistake keeping Pineiro in the game as long as he did. One batter too long.

So the Cardinals lose again when facing a "struggling" pitcher. This is one of the trends that has to end if the Cardinals want to stay in the hunt for the division.

We really need to win tonight's game. We can't lose 2 out of 3 to the last place Padres.

Damn! Albert has taken out 2 Padres in the 3rd. Hope Young and Bard is ok.
