Great job by Pineiro...excellent game. Too bad he got zero run support. Frustrating.

F'ing Villone
That's two piss-poor outings in a row. And his ERA is almost 6.00 now.
Pathetic.
We were coming off of an off day, and the guy they bring in for the 8th in a tie game is Villone??? Everyone in the bullpen should have been available...why the F was Villone used? I don't get it.
Springer (2.79 ERA), Perez (2.77 ERA) and Flores (4.34 ERA and tough on righties) were all available. But they choose a guy with a 5.67 ERA to work the 8th in a 1-1 game? Whatever.

F'ing Duncan
After his awful 0 for 4 performance tonight, he is batting an embarrassing .232 on the season. He also left 4 men on base tonight.
He only has 5 hits in his last 10 games and is only 3 for 20 (.150) with 1 RBI since being called back up to replace Pujols.
How much more sucking does he have to do before he gets sent down for good. The guy is awful.
I don't know why Mather doesn't play 1st. They could call up Rasmus as well. The fact they keep trotting Duncan out there is insane and may have cost us a win tonight with all of the guys he left on base. He'll continue to cost us the occasional game as long as he is in there.

F'ing LaRue
0 for 3 tonight and he's now batting .183 on the season. Are you kidding me? Surely there is a catcher floating around out there we could pick up to hit .250 or so and backup Molina. If you are hitting .183 in mid-June, you shouldn't be in the big leagues. Period.

Ankiel went 0 for 3 and his average has slipped all the way down to .250. Not good.
His average has been on a steady decline for the past month. On May 14th he was batting .294. His defense remains stellar though...so that's something.

Izzy was decent. He looked a bit shaky and didn't get any help from Izturus who lazily played a bounder up the middle and dropped the ball. But Izzy got out of it.

Thank God for our starting pitching.

Get well soon Albert.

At least the Cubs lost.

And the sad thing is, he has hit under or around .200 the last few years when he played in, of all places, Kansas City. I'm frustrated by his plate presence, but at the same time, I think one of the reasons he was signed was because he could call a decent game and throw some runners out, which Gary Bennett and Kelly Stinnett could not do last year. St. Louis loves their defensive catchers, after all.

The good thing is that Yadi sounds like he'll be back soon enough. And at least Larue has this Nick Cave-esque fu-manchu going on. That thing is ba-dass.

Losing the first 2 to the Royals in not fracking acceptable. Certainly wasn't the pitchers fault. WHERE'S THE HITTING???????????????

Ask Chris Duncan.... Yes others didn't deliver, but when you know this guy won't and keeps playing anyway - it has to get on the minds of the guys that actually can hit and try every at bat.

The offense is definitely struggling to drive in runs and that leaves little room for error with the pitching staff.
The starters are answering the bell and have been quite good...but the relievers have blown the last two games.

It sucks not being able to gain two games on the Cubs (who have lost two in a row) with two games we ended up losing in which we had the lead late in the game.

I guess you're bound to lose a series eventually. This will be the first series the Cardinals have lost in their last 11 series.

You'd think that if LaRue and Duncan both contribute offensively for a change, we'd have been in good shape. Guess not.

Thompson is starting tonight...so I can't say I'm thrilled about our chances.

Another good starting pitching performance wasted by a piss poor offensive performance.

Duncan reverted to his o-fer ways. I guess it was too much to ask for him to have a two-game hitting streak.

Ankiel hit a HR...nice to see considering he has been slumping.

Thompson pitched good enough to win...but no run support at all.

I'm effing sick that we got our asses swept by the Royals. How the hell are we going to win a game in Boston? Not looking good.
