Cubs and Brewers open a 4 game set tonight. We need them to split, but since I'd rather see the Brewers in the playoffs than the Cubs any more going to the Brewers is OK. Brewers have Sabathia vs Lilly tonight and Sheets vs Zambrano tomorrow.

Are you nuts? The Brewers are the only team which will man-handle the Cardinals if the Cards manage to make the playoffs. The only way I want the Brewers in the playoffs is if the Cardinals don't make it.BoxCar wrote:Cubs and Brewers open a 4 game set tonight. I'd rather see the Cubs take 4 and push the Brewers closer to the Cardinals. St Louis can beat Chicago in the playoffs. I don't see St Louis beating Milwaukee at all.

Re: Series Thread: Cardinals @ Braves
I actually hope the Cubs sweep them.
Re: Series Thread: Cardinals @ Braves
What I meant by "see" is not see the Cardinals play them, but see them make the playoffs instead of Chicago. Brewers would definitely be harder for the Cards, but I was speaking more about wanting to see the Cubs reach 100 years. The playoffs are a completely different story from the regular season anyway. Sure the Brewers could kill the Cards but the Cubs also have that potential (just as the Cards are capable of sweeping any NL team in the playoffs). We can't face either of them first round and there is always a chance that they get knocked out first round.

Imagine that - Mather gets a start and cranks out a 2-R HR in his first at bat.

Re: Series Thread: Cardinals @ Braves
Winner.
Now to take Campillo tomorrow. Should have a decent shot since he started the 21st, then pitched 1.2 innings on Sunday. Time to put up some more runs.
Villone and Flores still suck. Glad the offense made sure the bullpen wasn't really needed. Too bad Joey Bombs couldn't get the 3B for the cycle. Awesome Double/turned inside-the-parker for Yadi.

I'm not looking forward to the next game in which the Cardinals hold a 1 run lead going into the bottom of the 9th and our (somewhat) new closer Jason Isringhausen takes the mounds.

I'm easily drawn back in. 1 game out of the WC isn't to bad considering what has happened lately to the Cards.

Which is why I totally wanted the Cubs to sweep. If St Louis can get ahead of Mil in the standings and stay ahead - St Louis can beat the Cubs in the playoffs.cprice12 wrote:Two big wins in games we should have won. Nice.

Re: Series Thread: Cardinals @ Braves
The problem w/ all of that is that I think that Milwaukee will win the division, so I would have rather seen the Cubs get swept.
Re: Series Thread: Cardinals @ Braves
Hey man, i am happy with the Cards making the playoffs...you cant play a team from the same division in the 1st round. So we miss the cubs/brewers and prolly play the Phillies/Marlins/Mets. I just remember 06 when we barely hung on and then rocked it all the way to the championship!!!

man, im sitting here watching the pregame and i can't freakin wait to finally see carp pitch again, even if its for a few innings, it is good to finally see him agianJul 30 : Carpenter, who is returning from elbow surgery, will make his first start in 485 days on Wednesday, however he will be monitored very closely by manager Tony La Russa, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Very nice win. Good to see us play add on.
Hopefully Carp is more sharp for his next outing, but he did just fine overall.
