Bathory - Under The Sign Of The Black Mark
Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter
Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain
Carcass - Necorticism -- Descanting The Insalubrious

More to come.
All of these are amazing. "Solarfall" was the first Immortal song I ever heard, and I was hooked after that.

Coprofago - "Images of Despair"

Moonsorrow - Voimasta Ja Kunniasta
Moonsorrow - Suden Uni
Leviathan - Tentacles of Whorror
Leviathan - Howl Mockery at the Cross
Leviathan - Debut EP
Xasthur - Nocturnal Poisoning
Xasthur - Telepathic with the Deceased
Sodom - Agent Orange
Immortal - Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism

I'm a little disappointed with the Leviathan debut EP. It sounds more like Danzig than Leviathan. It's not the worst thing in my collection, but not what I expected. Everything else is great.

Finally picked up The Sword - Gods of the Earth with a Christmas gift card. Good stuff. Tracks 3 and 5 are probably my favorites so far. I've got it on rotation in my car, so I haven't really figured out the song titles yet.

Their first one, Age of Winters, is just as good if not better. A lot of "true metal fans" hate The Sword because they fear the hipsters are trying to move into the genre. They do have a bit of a retro feel, sort of like Wolfmother, but they seem to be doing it for the right reasons - they enjoy the music. I like both of their albums.

Have you heard the Xasthur/Leviathan split? It's a good one, for sure. Leviathan probably has the better half of that split, as well.

No new albums lately, but I did just buy a Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro for 400, so that counts for something, I suppose.

I'll check out that split if I can find it.

New guitars > new albums. Congrats!

I like their first one a lot, and #2 is good but not quite the progression that I had hoped for. It's like more of the same, which isn't bad, but I think this band has even more potential still. I don't know about the whole "hipster" debate, and The Sword is really more like stoner rock than metal to me anyway. It's like High on Fire Light: Tastes Great, Better for listening to at the office.

I bought two albums last night.

The Decemberists - "That Hazards of Love"
Mastodon - "Crack the Skye"

Haven't listened to the Decemberists' album yet, but "Crack the Skye" is epic and awesome.

I will second the comment about Crack the Skye. I didn't feel it at first, but now I am diggin' it. I still feel it was overhyped though...but it is good.

However, the DVD that came with it, makes the band seem like a bunch of nerds and douchebags. Stay away from the DVD.

Yeah it was a bit of overhyped but Mastodon is the rare type of band that connects with metal heads and indie fans, as well. I never listened to "Blood Mountain" but I thought "Leviathon" was great too. I like the direction they are moving in.

I downloaded a bunch of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli today. I need some super happy jazz from time to time, and this is great gypsy jazz.

Superchunk - self-titled and On The Mouth
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Usurper - Twilight Dominion

Lamb of God - Wrath
Much better than Sacrament. The production is stripped down and suits their music better. Contractor is my favorite song, and it sounded awesome live last week!

Early Man - Closing In
Borrowed from a friend and ripped this one. I'd never heard of them before, but they're a great Sabbath-esque stoner metal band like The Sword. Really good.

Good choices big D.

My latest:
Xasthur - A Gate Through Bloodstained Mirrors
Suicidal black metal out of California

Sargeist - Satanic Black Devotion
Black metal out of Finland

Behemoth - Demonica
Black metal out of Poland

1349 - Hellfire
Black metal out of Norway

Bathory - Nordland I
Bathory - Nordland II
Viking/black metal from the father of black metal out of Sweden

Mayhem - Live In Leipzig
Legendary black metal out of Sweden. This is one of the few releases with Dead.

I didn't set out to get nothing but black metal, it just turned out that way. eMusic didn't have any Morrissey.
