August 29: Kyle Lohse, RHP (13-6, 3.96) @ Randy Wolf, LHP (8-11, 4.86), 7:05 PM CT
August 30: Braden Looper, RHP (12-10, 3.94) @ Brian Moehler, RHP (9-5, 3.99), 6:05 PM CT
August 31: Todd Wellemeyer, RHP (11-5, 3.87) @ Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (7-6, 3.94), 1:05 PM CT

Now that the Brewers woke up the sleeping giant, the Astros have done nothing to get better in any way during the season, and the Astros keep sucking - its' time for a sweep.

Facing 2 lefties is going to be tough. We need to take this series, but a sweep is needed.

Once again...we need to go on a 6 or 7 game winning streak and win 12 out of 15 or something like that.
Anything less will be tough to catch Milwaukee, unless they fall apart...and to tell you the truth, with Ned Yost managing and with the crap they pulled on Tuesday in St. Louis, I can see them fall apart because they could very well continue to blow games like that.

They have pissed me off for the last time. I'll be watching, but I have given up hope for the playoffs.

Time to change that too the season slipped away. Brewers sweep. Cardinals get swept.

No way do I believe the Cardinals make up 6.5 games with only 25 to play. Over the last 5 years, they are essentially a .500 September team.

2007 13-18
2006 12-16
2005 13-13
2004 16-12
2003 13-13
Total 67-72

TLR is capable of getting them to play much better given the 3 year run when the Cardinals seemed liked they couldn't lose in September from 2000-2002:

2002 21-6
2001 17-5
2000 19-9
Total 57-20

It's going go take a 2002 like run for the Cardinals to have any shot and with the Cards starting pitching faltering and the Cards hitting - other than AP - being so inconsistent, I'm not that hopeful of a 2002 type run happening.

As much fun as this '08 team has been, their ability to not close out games (duh) or win games in important situations are what doomed this team. This result was not Mozeliak's fault for not making a deadline deal, though some Cardinals fans will blame him for that. This result is not Dewitt's fault for not shelling out the cash, though man will say that as well.

This season comes down to this: The Cubs and Brewers are simply better than the Cardinals.

We couldn't make the deals that they could make at the deadline. But the thing is, while the Brewers got Sabathia, they'll lose him and Sheets this offseason. The Cardinals standing pat at the deadline lets us keep all of our assets AND keeps the base of our team for next year. We've got a great farm system and with some high priced vets who have contracts expiring, we have money to spend and Mo says we will.

So this season wasn't a failure at all. In fact, I think its the opposite. We were picked by some to finish below the facking Pirates and Reds and we stayed in contention all season long. We didn't overspend at the deadline for a relief pitcher (Garcia, McClellan, etc. for Fuentes? No thanks) and we saw huge strides from Yadi, Ludwick, McClellan, Perez, etc.

I'm tired of all of the collective negativity in Cardinals nation. I'm sorry, I just had to vent.

Who the (Frank) pays for 60-70 power leveling anyways? That takes all of 3 days.
