I watched the first season on CBS in the spring and loved it, but haven't seen seasons 2 or 3 yet.

Season 2 was not as good as season 1, but that isn't a knock at all. Both were very high quality. I enjoy shows that seem to have a cast that is 90% people who were on Oz (see Law and Order).

You really should see the Showtime version (same as the DVD's). Apparently it was cleaned up quite a bit for network broadcast.

I watched about a half of an episode on CBS and couldn't stand it. It was sped up (60 minute show into 40 minutes), cut down, and monstrously edited. I recommend just buying it on DVD, cause anybody who walks through the room while you're watching it is gonna wanna borrow it anyways.

I don't think it was condensed nearly that much MEG... there were much fewer commercials during Dexter as there normally is on a CBS show. I'm sure that there were some things that were cut out to please Goon's right wing cronies, but it was still pretty gross from time to time.

I remember the room completely covered in blood, which was a super awesome scene.. I think it was almost entirely edited out.

Did she give it up?

If she gave it up, I wouldn't have described her as "sweet".

Obviously I have no idea how much it was shown on Showtime, but I remember that room very well... so they at least showed it some.

Dexter is awesome.
Great show.
We started watching this show after we finished up the Sopranos.

We Netflixed it for season one, and saw that season two was on OnDemand...so we were able to watch season two that way.

Season one and two were both excellent. You expected a natural drop off after season one, but that wasn't the case.

Looking forward to season three. :okman:

I've never seen it on CBS, but I can't imagine them not cutting up the show a lot. There was so much stuff that wouldn't be allowed on network television.
Violence, lots of blood, nudity, language...I am sure the CBS version is ok if you haven't seen the Showtime version. But I'd have to guess that the Showtime version is far superior.

The whole basis of the show revolves around how dark of a person Dexter really is as he tries to control it and hide it. By cutting a lot of that stuff out, I think you'd lose that extra edge that makes the show that much better.

Just my opinion.

I just can't imagine Doakes having much dialogue on the CBS version  , and he's an important part of the show.

Michael C. Hall was much better in Six Feet Under. Now that was a really good show.

That said, I still think Dexter is a good show. I guess you really can't make a comparison between the two.
