Anyone getting one? I think they are being released in late October.
I need a new cell phone and I am a T-Mobile customer.
St. Louis isn't in the new T-Mobile G3 network yet, but the G1 can be used on WIFI networks and their EDGE network, which covers St. Louis and the entire metro east, it just won't be quite as fast as it would be on the G3 network.

It looks pretty cool. Has some great features...very iPhone-like. And the Google Android operating system is open source, which is pretty cool. People will be able to develop applications and make them available to download and install onto the G1 for free.

I was looking at getting a Blackberry...but I am leaning towards the G1 now.

I'm sure those things will be fraught with problems from the git go.

It might be cool if it weren't a T-Mobile phone. That company sucks.

What's wrong with T-mobile? I have them and never had a complaint.

I had Sprint before that and never had a complaint either. We switched to t-mobile for a better deal.

stlbluz came to the great metropolis of Columbia and had nada signal when he was five miles north of Columbia approaching my rural compound. I ended up rescuing him from a fireworks stands where two richter-approved rednecks were telling him how to make improvised explosives. Five more minutes, and they would have had him squealing, I think.

I've had T-Mobile for years...so has my wife. We've never really had a problem...and they have the best deals on packages.
They even gave us free phones that weren't technically supposed to be free the last time we got new phones.
They get a thumbs up from me...so far, so good. :okman:

A friend of mine has a Blackberry on T-Mobile...and she loves it.

Well, I ended up getting it.
In a nutshell...I like it a lot.

For those that care, here is a review I put together:

i heard there was an app that won a graduate college level contest of software engineers that will change your ringtone profile (ring loud, medium, vibrate, etc.) based on wherever you are. i.e. your phone automatically goes on vibrate when you are at work or is extra loud when you are outside your house. thats way tighter than spying on your kids.

That's pretty damn cool. Auto silent mode in church, theaters, etc.

I haven't tried that app yet...but I'll have to check it out.
