Irony...or is it coincidence? (Updated with good news)

Post by Ruutu15 »

The crackheads are taking over. After posting stories in the "leave your valuables at home" thread, I went out to my car this morning to find my passenger window shattered and my kenwood jacked out of the dash. I just played in net yesterday and left my equipment bag in the backseat, luckily they probably had no idea what it was, so they left it. Pictures:

That does suck dude. A couple of years ago when I lived downtown I had a homeless guy break into my Jeep and spend the night inside.

Update: I just spoke with the detective from the Indianapolis Police Dept who left his card on my console. They caught the 4 guys who did it and have my stereo. Apparently my neighbor saw them and called the cops, and they arrived in record time. And in this case, I am pressing charges. People who mess with other people's means of transportation should be fukked by the long dick of the law.

And earlier today, I wasn't holding out much hope for the tape (cd) deck.

Congrats! You got lucky. Of course, they will probably be out of the joint before they go in and you will get a fire bomb through your window.

I'm real tired of people saying stuff like this is because "times are tuff". Times are always tuff for druggies who can't hold down a job regardless of the economy and have those extra expenses that the rest of society don't (drug habbit).

Damn, that reminds me of an ex-roommate of mine who used to allow a homeless guy to sleep in our storage area (which was separated from my bedroom by nothing but a flimsy-ass hollow door and lock that wouldn't pass muster on a restroom-stall door) without telling me because she "didn't want to freak me out."

Sorry about the break-in, D. That really, really sucks.

I came out of work one time and saw the same exact scene... only from the driver's side door. At first when I saw all the glass on the ground I thought, "Sucks for that dude." Then like 2 seconds later it hit me, "I am that dude!!!!1!1! $^#@(%$&#^(%$&@$#"

Some shady dude saw me bumpin' to my crappy stereo in the parking lot and pointed and smirked at me. I thought it was weird but didn't think much of it. A couple days later I remember him, but right after it happened, I was too p/o'd to put two and two together.

Karma got back at me though, that night I ran into a girl at a party that I had met a few weeks earlier and she ended feeling very, very, VERY sorry for me.

I mean I could be wrong but I doubt too many "druggies" that are breaking into cars, and in jail are registered voters, but I mean the President Elect is black so I am sure they were all car jacking, druggies.

That's awesome that they caught the dudes and got your stereo back! I had a similar result when some low-lifes robbed my apartment in Dallas years ago. They got caught and the cops got most of my stuff back. A few things like a stereo never worked right again though - probably got dropped. Make sure your CD player still works before you finalize the insurance claim (assuming you made one). The guys who robbed me went to jail for a while, but they never came back and retaliated or anything, even though they were living in the apartment complex right next to mine at the time.

And yes, I moved the hell out of that shady area of town asap. Years later while working on a project for that city, I was making small-talk with one of the city employees:
"Hey, I used to live in Addison, in an apartment over on Brookhaven Club Drive."
"I'm sorry."
