You're on crack. Fan following? We are talking football, right? KU was invited to the Orange Bowl to destroy Va Tech because they were the only one loss team in the country, not because the drive from Lawrence to Miami is an easy one.

You must be a Mizzou fan. Did you hear any whispers from KU about winning the National Championship this year? Any Hesiman talk? No, we understood the significance of last year, and took it for what it was. It was the greatest year in KU football in the last 25 years. As it turns out, it was also the greatest year in Mizzou football as well.

Want to bet on who has the better record in '09?
Before I respond I just want to completely agree 100% with megs last post..

Yeah, I am a Mizzou fan. Had you looked 2 inches to the left as you were reading my post you would have seen my location is Mizzou, meaning I am a student there, but I wouldn't expect a KU fan to be able to comprehend a thing like that. Second, Meg answered most of your post as I would have. And it was a fact that the Orange Bowl Committee picked KU partly because of the supposed fan following of the JAYHAWK..gay.. I am not denying it had to do with you only having 1 loss but it was to Mizzou who beat you and only lost to the eventual big 12 champs in Oklahoma. Everyone understood the significance of KU's run last year, they were a big 12 team playing one of the easiest schedules in college football last year, if Mizzou had been playing that schedule we would have had 1 loss to and it would have been in the big 12 championship to Oklahoma.

I will literally bet you $100 that Mizzou has a better record next year than Kansas, honestly.

I wouldn't put money on Mizzou having a better year.. We'll have a freshman QB and they'll have a senior year. Not to mention Coffman, Maclin, Daniel are all gone (as well as Wolfert I believe).. We may very well do so, but I only bet on sure things and Mizzou having a better year is not that.

Or give a shit about the other team? As a native Mid-Missourian I can say nobody at Mizzou gives a scheit about Illinois.. It's all about Kansas.. Maybe K-state, Nebraska some too.. But Illinois doesn't even make the radar.. It's only in St. Louis that people think this is a rivalry.

Ya, going from living in the St. Louis area to going to school here at Mizzou you realize nobody cares about Illinois. Like you said it is all about other big 12 teams, obviously Kansas is the main one.
I find this funny, because I keep telling Mizzou fans that Kansas feels the same way about them. For KU, 90% of the hate is directed at K-State, and like 10% at Mizzou. You guys should forget about us and work on your rivalry with Illinois instead, and then everything will be balanced. :okman:

Well I could get into the whole hating the Jayhawks based on their name thing, but that pissed people off last time so I won't bother.

Suffice to say my hate for all things Lawrence isn't going anywhere.

Well, technically he will be a sophomore but ya I know what you are saying and I agree. But, I still think we will do better, I maybe being really biased here though.

And maybe we would be able to focus on someone other than KU if we had another in state rival like KU does with K-State. And besides we aren't in the same conference as Illinois, so there will never be any reason to have a rivalry or hate them other then for the braggin' rights game.

Exactly. Mizzou loses a bunch, KU returns a bunch. KU does have the tougher schedule though. @ Texas, @ Texas Tech, and OU at home. One of you may know better, but I believe Mizzou only has to play Texas in Columbia.

We play Texas, OSU and the mighty jayhawk of course, and to a lesser degree Nebraska. Oh, and OU in the big 12 championship.

That might be a reach. Not just the part about MU reaching the title game, but OU loses a shitload. Bradford is gonna have his hands full with the starters OU loses. Texas has to be the favorite in the south next year.

Also, an internet money bet doesn't mean crapoloa. Just be back here next year to eat your shitpie on that $100.

Or we could fist fight? I'll leave it up to you.

So we could fist fight but not exchange money?

And ya you are probably right about texas in the championship game, I didn't really put much thought into who our opponent would be.

You are correct, they did. Nice find.

Let's not forget where both programs were/are. Before the 2008 season, did you have any idea that Mizzou would be ranked #1 in the nation? I doubt it. The same way KU never would have thought they would have been #2. It was a dream season. But here's the difference. What happened coming into this season? All of the sudden the Mizzou faithful start preaching about National Championships and Heisman winners. What was KU looking for? Another good season to build on. How did this season meet your expectations? Wasn't this supposed to be your "best" team?

By the way, what was the final score of this year's game in Arrowhead again? Keep holding on to 2007. If 2008 was supposed to be "best", what's going to happen in 2009 with all that talent gone?

We have already talked about everything you were asking in your post. The picture wasn't referring to last years win, I was referring to Mizzou winning the argument in what has become this lame thread, that picture is just the best image I could really think of to put up. I could have went with something like our tiger (Franking) the jayhawk, but I just put that one up because it is just a good picture.

Mizzou fans had great expectations and it is true that we didn't meet those expectations. However, we still ended the season with another Big 12 championship appearance, a bowl appearance and victory and a 10-4 overall record. When you add all those things up and you're still disappointed with what could have been it says a lot for what your program is doing.

There is no reason that Mizzou fans shouldn't have hope that Gabbert can step in and contribute right off the bat. Bradford was a superstar as a freshman, if high school rankings correlate to anything in college football then Mizzou is going to have yet another stellar QB.

Which they don't. Rankings are shit and there's been plenty of articles written on the subject, including one today.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/w ... ref=sircrc

I'm not saying Gabbert won't turn out kick ass. He might, he might not. But just because he was ranked high by internet recruiting services, doesn't mean he's a lock.

It also goes both ways. According to Scout, Mr. Mizzou Chase McDanielson was the 26th best QB coming out in 2005. Reesing was 63rd in 2006.
