I don't get all these experts telling people not to buy homes right now.. Yeah, you'd have to be an idiot to buy when property values have dipped and mortgage rates are at a 30 or 40 or whatever year low it is. If I had some savings and a bit less debt I'd definitely buy right now.

That seems like a really good deal even for mid Missouri.. My parents place in Jeff is probably worth around that amount.. And it's definitely smaller than what that one looks.. I would think property in Columbia cost more than in JC too.

Pretty shocking what $160 will buy you in Columbia.

Then again, it does mean you have to live in Columbia.

My "new" house (1950) is costing me 275k, even though it was assessed just a couple years ago at 400k, and is a fraction of the size of that.

I wish I didn't live here.

My point is that I bout a house in suburban St. Louis that is 1/3 that size for slightly more then that. So seeing a house that size for 160 is somewhat surprising.

My second point is that Columbia sucks

I don't think it is that bad, I would much rather be living back in st. charles or st. louis though. But, that has a lot to do with the blues of course. My biggest thing about disliking columbia is they have a lot and I mean a lot of very unnecessary medians which stops you from making left turns out of a lot of parking a lots and gets very, very annoying. Also, no jack in the box or white castle. Other than that though it is pretty cool, I love driving around and being able to see hot girls driving all over town all the time instead of when I am back home in St. Charles and all I see driving around is 40 year old women, or seeing hot girls anywhere I go in Columbia it is pretty cool. As much as I hate wal mart, the wal mart by my house is stacked with tons of good talent.
