What measures can we take to bring this place back...

Give amnesty to everyone. Everyone gets a second chance. Curt, turn over the day to day moding to someone else. Completely remove yourself from worrying about policing the forums and dedicate yourself to just improving everything else. Too many bridges have been burned.

I agree with this. While we'll never have everyone happy I miss the days when I first joined here and while there was a lot of hazing (much my way even) everyone got along for the most part and did things together in person. Now it seems BNF has broken into a bunch of petty jr. high-esque factions and people get mad at you if you say you like or were hanging out with the wrong person.

I have to post on two different boards and ride the fence between some of the people here I like and some of the people there I like. It's just lame. If people would not be petty and dramatic we wouldn't have all this shit going on.

But I suppose the days of everyone getting along on one board are long gone and I'll have to continue going between a forum that is too strict and bans most of the people who have interesting things to say, and a forum where there are absolutely no restrictions and people can be as much of assholes as they please.

A few guys threw a hissy fit, decided they would trash the forum, insult me, and actually said they were trying to get banned, etc... all because we banned SMP...so, obviously, they got themselves banned.

I've always said it's about respect. Show a little respect to your fellow LGBers and have fun, and we'll get a long just fine.

However, I do find it disturbing that I am labeled as the bad guy because I ask people to show a little respect to each other. GASP!! THE HORROR!! HOW COULD I BE SO CRUEL & UNFAIR?!?!?

I don't know if things can ever be the way they were back in he day before all of the drama and ridiculous junior-high cattiness started up (which isn't directed at anyone here, or even anyone who's posted in this thread). I just think things got too fractionalized when a bunch of people went to a couple of other forums and decided, for whatever reason, that they had to choose one or the other. Personally, I couldn't possibly care less about the bannings and what may or may not have happened there, though I do think it's a shame that 1 whining fool couldn't take a bit of ribbing. I detest drama and confrontation & would be perfectly happy if all of that and the political sniping and just stupid bullshit would go away. Then let the chips fall where they may.

And now that I have carpal tunnel from typing all of that on a Blackberry, I bid you all goodnight.

I think it's shame that a group of people decided that because they didn't like that one whining fool that they'd attack him time and time again for the sole purpose of getting him to disappear. They'll still tell you today that the one whining fool ruined LGB, but in reality the one whining fool wouldn't have even been that noticeable had they not continuously made him the topic of discussion.

That "whining fool" didn't do squat. That has to be one of the biggest misconceptions ever on LGB.
For anyone to blame him for anything, is lame. He put up with a lot of pointless crap and everyone said he should just shut up and take it...which is retarded.
Those who got banned made their own bed. They got themselves banned, and they know it...but it's just easier for them to blame it on someone else.

But really, this seems to be the problem with all kinds of info floating around. People don't know the whole story, they actually know very little of the story...but they tell people stuff and act like they know everything. I don't remember anyone 'trashing' the forum...what did I miss? Sure, SMP posted a few marginal things, but I sure as hell don't remember a group of posters 'trashing' the forum.

The fact remains that this site, while occasionally informative and insightful about hockey, isn't fun any longer. You used to be able to get good hockey info plus a bunch of laughs...this fact seems to be lost on you. The other place, while much higher on the fun spectrum, lacks a lot of the informative hockey talk.

Having both in one place was nice, but good things aren't meant to last I guess.
