I plan to watch ever game with him on my lap, in order to give my wife a break. If I do that from now until forever he will never know a reality where he wasn't watching Blues hockey. That's kind of crazy to think about...

I wonder sort of long-term psychological effects that will have. He will definitely be used to failure from an early age, that's for sure. He might end up a cutter or a furrie...

Maybe when he gets older and plays he'll be able to see the ice better.

He'll probably rebel against me in his teenage years by becoming a Wings fan.

Bump for another Blues fan! My daughter was born almost exactly a year after Curt's. 9/7/10. She was about 1 lb lighter than our first at 7lb 6oz. Her name is Denna.

Congrats d note, and my condolences on the loss of your sleeping habits for the next several years.

Thanks guys. Denna had her first checkup at the pediatrician this morning and she's doing well, getting bigger. We've had lots of comments on the name so far. We pronounce it like "Jenna", not with a long "ee" sound. There's no significance to it; my wife was reading a book that had a character with that name in it and we liked it. My son is going to be 3 in November, so we had almost forgotten (blocked out) all the little details about how tiring newborns are. Now we have someone to wear his Blues jerseys and shirts as he outgrows them. :)

The lighting on that picture turned out really cool. The full shot actually shows Denna sleeping in the hospital crib in the foreground and my wife sleeping in the hospital bed in the background, with the sun coming in the window. It's one of my favorites so far.

Congrats to everyone in this thread that has had a baby in the past year or so.

My brother, a Blues fan, and sister in law, a non-hockey fan but a big soccer fan, just had a baby two weeks ago and we were sitting in the waiting room for everything to be prepped to actually meet the little guy (Lucas James). I looked at my brother, who is a devout Catholic, and I asked "How are you going to raise him?" He looked at me with a weird look and says, "...Catholic."

I said to him, "No, Blues fan or MLS fan?" He laughed and said, "That boy ain't mine if he picks any kind of soccer over the Blues." I am, now for the first time, happy to call him my brother.

Amazingly, enough, I now have a contribution as well. :)

Alison was born on 10/6/10, and I agree with all of the above comments about newborns. :D

Congratulations! I hope you manage to get more sleep than I have lately. Averaging 4-5 hours a night for the last few weeks... ugh.

Congrats Nyghtewynd!

Sleep is overrated, I got so use to it that even though my kids are a bit older now I still usually only sleep about 5 hours a night.
