If Artie was going to do himself in, I'd suspect he'd go the OD route.
Stabbing yourself is just brutal (unless he was jacked up on something and hallucinating out of his mind)

My first thought as well, but the 'hesitation wounds' see to suggest otherwise. Who knows, dude is (franked) up anyways, so I’m not going to try and figure out what was going on in his head.
