I watched a lot of tv as a kid...cartoons mainly on Saturday mornings and after school, but I was also outside A LOT...especially during the summer. My brother and I rode our bikes all over town, all day long. We'd come home for lunch and head back out again and we had to be home before the street lights came on. I remember racing the lights as they turned on one by one on the long street leading up to our house.glen a richter wrote:My favorite kids cartoon is definitely Phineas and Ferb. I see zombies every day, I don't want my son to be one. Imagination and creativity are the long term answer to how to entertain yourself in unpleasant situations. When Hurricane Sandy rolled through, a lot of people lost power for over a week and even some of the adults were losing their marbles. Picture kids who don't know how to make their own fun dealing with that kind of situation.
When I got a bit older, I was playing sports all day long. A couple summers it was lots of tennis and baseball, and then that changed into lots of hockey...lots and lots of hockey...which after I started playing hockey, that's mostly what I played. We'd play all day long on Saturdays/Sundays at the park. The town had built us a roller hockey rink to keep us off of the tennis courts...I guess the tennis players complained.
