Opening day is always truly a holiday in St. Louis.

Everyone wearing red, everyone talking about it all day, constant news coverage......

Just makes me dream of the day the Blues hoist the Cup down Market Street.

I am not wearing red. I am wearing my Blues shirt in honor of their ass kicking last night.

Wish I wasn't stuck at work until 7 tonight. But it's a great day indeed. Always make me remember the excitement I had as a kid about opening day. I still get a twinge of that today, as well.

The countdown to Pujols in a Nationals jersey begins. 162 games minus one inning away!

When I was typing that, I honestly thought about that quote in my head.

Nonetheless...one game, one blown save. Kudos Ryan Franklin.

Swell start by the Cards.

Padres will still lose 90, losing Adrian Gonzalez was horrible for that team and for that city.

Fortunately for the Cards, it appears the Brewers closer is going to be just as ineffective as Franklin in the early goings. Watch for the Reds to jump out to an early lead in the central.

My dad and I go to opening day every year. This is my Christmas. Best day of the year and it's not close.

Disappointing result, but there were a lot of positives.

1. Freese, awesome, enough said.
2. Carp going 7IP 2H 2ER on opening day is GREAT.
3. Berkman looked better than I expected, but, it's too early to say he's a success obv.

I know there were some negatives, but I'm not worried yet. Pujols will obviously be Pujols. It's only one blown save so far. If it continues, then I'll worry. For now, he just hung a curveball or something, which is going to happen periodically.

The one thing I am very worried about is our inability to score runs. We were significantly out-hitting them most of the game, but couldn't get runners around. If it wasn't so reminiscent of last year, I wouldn't be worried as Pujols was the main culprit. I could be reading too much into it, but we have a power-hitter for a hitting coach. Maybe he isn't good at preparing people for situational hitting as that wasn't his forte.
