Cards sign Carp to 2-year $21 mil extension

Post by cardsfan04 »

It's not a done deal yet, but supposed to be announced on Tuesday assuming the loose ends (whatever they are) get tied up.

Seems like a really good deal to me. If they let him go, they'd have to replace him with somebody else of at least somewhat comparable value. But, to do that, they would easily spend $10 mil per year.

It's a fair deal for a GREAT guy......and a good pitcher.

Yeah, seriously, even if his numbers aren't what they used to be (and who would expect that of a 36-37 year old pitcher), he's a bulldog on the mound and brings a great mentality and fire to each start. A veteran like Carp is a good thing to have.

This explains the team underachieving this year! Everyone knows what in-season contract negotiations will do to a player and his teammates.
