I'm coming around on Brockers. I kind of wanted DeCastro though.

I liked DeCastro too, but a guard at 14 would have been a reach, in my opinion. If the Rams had traded down once more into the early 20 range, I say you take DeCastro there.

That being said, the Blues have their pick of the litter. On Mayock's board, he's got several tackles and guards at the top of his 'best still available' list. Not to mention there's still a burner a WR out there like Hill.

Tonight is huge for the Rams. They have 3 picks in the first 13 of the second round. By the end of the day, they could conceivably have 3 (4 counting last night) starters drafted already.

I saw a lot of people commenting on the Rams official Facebook page last night and weren't happy with the pick. They wanted Blackmon or Floyd or an offensive lineman. I get all of that, but the Rams need a lot of players, they're not just one away. The more picks the better. I love this kind of drafting philosophy. The Patriots did this for years (until last night). As much as I hate the Patriots, I always respected them for it. They'd move down and still get a player with good value who they could plug right in. It's my hope the Rams do the same thing tonight.

I'm not at all upset they didn't get Blackmon or Floyd. They would have been nice, but so is an extra pick, especially in a draft that is considered very deep from picks 20-55.

Agree that 14 would have been high for a guard. If they are high on Brockers, then I'm good with taking him I guess. Moving back and getting DeCastro + a pick would have been nice too.

Tonight is going to be interesting again. We need WR help badly. But, some of the round 2 mocks I'm seeing don't have us taking a WR. Very strange. I've seen Trumain Johnson and Janoris Jenkins both mentioned as possible picks. But, they have some bad off the field issues.

This is fucked up.
I think I'll get to a lot more of this in Monday's column, but I'd like to throw some empathy Mohamed Sanu's way. The Rutgers wide receiver was on the edge of his seat late in the first round, with the Bengals on the clock at No. 27, when his phone rang. The voice on the other end of the phone identified himself as being from the Bengals, and said Cincinnati was about to pick him. Sanu and those in his draft party exploded in excitement, and agent Mike McCartney even tweeted that Sanu was a Bengal. Then Cincinnati pick Zeitler.

"This is a great kid, I guarantee you, and someone played a cruel joke on him,'' McCartney told me. "It is unreal that someone would do that, but it happened.'' Sanu told McCartney after the draft not to worry about him, he'd be fine, and some team will draft him and get a good player. McCartney's right. Sanu must be a good kid, to respond to something that hurtful with an attitude so hopeful.

I haven't read this entire article, but it's fairly interesting. Apparently we had Brockers ahead of Claiborne from the start.

Here's an article from Yahoo!. I couldn't link the whole thing, but Michael Silver was in the draft room with the Rams. Gives some really cool insight in their thought process. Basically the Browns trading to get Richardson kind of jumbled everything up. But they had Brockers rated high and were willing to pick him at 6.

LOL, that's the article I tried to link. Apparently when linking an article, it is important to include the link. Who knew?

I think they are sitting great right now.

They have to pick Randle or Hill with that first pick, take Jenkins (based on film, he would have been the #1 CB), and then get your RB with Lamar Miller @ 45

I wouldn't complain if that's what we do, but I wouldn't take Miller. RB isn't an immediate need and there will be players of his caliber every year.

I think we can go 1 of a couple of ways and lean toward taking a WR first. But, if we don't, here's an option:

Jerel Worthy and Courtney Upshaw are both there still. Upshaw makes more sense in a 3-4 IMO since he can play OLB and our DE's are already pretty solid. But, Worthy would solidify our interior DLine which will help the rest of the defense. If we take him, there's a decent chance either Randle or Hill would still be there I think. If we know they will be there, this is what I would do. But, getting 1 of the 2 of those WR's has to be priority 1.

If we take a WR at 33, I like Lavonte David at 39 if he makes it there.

I'm torn on Jenkins and Trumaine though. Both are very solid corners, but have lots of off the field issues. I believe both were kicked off of their teams and had to finish at nowhere schools.

Another thing to keep in mind is an OL. Cordy Glenn is still there and would help Bradford a ton. Our defense is already improved with offseason signings and Brockers. So OG + WR + OLB/CB helps too.

Yes, I like him a lot too.

Not that I'd take the RB, but they've made no secret of the fact that they plan to take one tonight and I think Miller is better then anyone else left on the board....in the end he'll probably be better then two of the RBs that went yesterday.

Cleveland keeps (Franking) up from top to bottom. a 28 year old rookie QB? Get the (Frank) out of town with that bullshit, honestly! Should have signed Matt Flynn and then drafted Blackmon instead of Richardson and skipped on Weedin.

Thank the Dark Lord that I also like the Jets... oh wait.

Quick is compared to T.O. so, that being said--sorry you guys got stuck with a 1st class douchebag. At least he'll catch a few TD's.

I really like what the Rams did. I don't completely get why they went after a RB instead of somebody like Lavonte David. But, Gruden can't say enough good things about him. So, I can't really be upset.

I was really surprised that we took a 2nd corner. But, after last year, we should have considered signing 10 this offseason so we don't run out.

Our defense is shaping up.

D-line: Quinn/Langford/Brockers/Long
Defensive backfield: Finnegan/Jenkins/Johnson/Fletcher rotating at CB and Mikell and Dahl at safety
We've got JL55 in the middle. Still need someone to flank him on the outside but things are rounding into place overall.

Also, our new RB has a great Twitter handle: IPead.

Yeah, I like how the defense is shaping up too. If all of these guys can come in and make an impact, we're going to be significantly better.

The offense still has some holes, but if we can get Massie, I'll be very happy. Then again, he might be the token guy that Kiper overhypes every year.

Apparently the Rams were looking at Chris Givens in the 2nd round, so I'll take him in round 4. I thought we might go OLine there, but oh well.

Why the hell did Washington draft another QB? I don't get them. RG3 will be a bust, I understand that, but how bad does he have to feel knowing his new team doesn't even have enough confidence in him that they go draft another QB 3 rounds later?

Looks like it'll be smooth sailing for the Giants the next couple years.

I'm more optimistic about Griffin, but had the exact same thought as you. If it weren't for the Saints, the Redskins might have had the worst offseason in football.

First, they mortgage the next few years on Griffin. If he doesn't work out, they really are going to be terrible in a few years.

Then, to show their faith in giving up that much, they draft a built in QB controversy.

I can hear Shanahan now. "Hey Griffin, you're our guy. Nothing but faith in you. But, we're worried enough about you failing that we're going to take this other guy too so he can replace you when you suck."
