I've heard Cliff Lee mentioned. He's another one of those "I would love to have him, but I would rather have what we would have to give it by trading for him (both in terms of prospects to the Phillies and inflated payroll)."
If there is a solid 3 starter, that would be nice I guess. It wouldn't cost as much as an ace, but would have a similar effect on the rotation. I don't know if I'm foolish or blindly optimistic, but I'm not as worried about our staff as some.
-I think Miller's struggles are just rookie adversity that he'll overcome. It started right about the time that teams started to get a book on him, so once he makes some adjustments, I think he'll be OK.
-Lynn needs to get his head out of his ass. He's faced some bad luck, but it seems like he's going through a lull like last season. He has the talent to be a solid 3, but the inconsistency is frustrating. I think he'll figure it out again before the playoffs though.
-Westbrook is Westbrook. He's OK as our 4 I guess. I wouldn't mind pushing him out of the playoff rotation though. That's why I wouldn't mind trading for a 3. I think Waino-Miller-Lynn, when pitching well, are fine as a 1-2-3 in the playoffs. Hell, Westbrook is probably fine as a 4 in the playoffs as well if the other 3 are pitching well.
