You know, while I can talk about the future, I can't now. I know the franchise will move on eventually without him, and may even succeed. But Pronger was an era. We talk about the Hull era...well this was the decade of Pronger, and now he isn't a Blue anymore and will likely never be.
I always projected Pronger as the guy lifting the Blues' first Cup...now that dream is shattered. There's not a single person from the Blues that I began watching that is still on the team. How sad
The Blues could sign some forwards now. Keep your fingers crossed. Pleau said that the he still needs to address team's offensive needs in an interview on KFNS earlier today.

He has been saying that for years...

I feel you. Pronger is among my favorite 2 or 3 Blues since I began watching them in the early 1980s.
Now they are saying he signed a 5 year deal at 5.5 million per.
...which by the way is almost exactly what I suggested the Blues offer him, just earlier today. I thought about 5.5 but backed down to 5 million b/c the cap is lowering next year.
If this proves to be true I'd be shocked. Very shocked that the Blues couldn't muster this for the best active player in the NHL.

The blues are going to be competetive this year IMHO. A good goaile and a deep D is gonna go a long way with the new rules. And if the clutching and grabbing isn't enforced very much that is only to our advantage. Either way this team still has every chance of making the playoffs. At least as much of a chance as anyone does.

With the pro contracts for the other 2.. That's 3.5 mill a year.. Versus Pronger's 7.2 million. We're saving 3.7 (franking) million dollars.
This franchise is going to give away the best player that has ever put on its jersey (save Gretzky) so Bill Laurie can save 3.7 million? Are you f*cking kidding me?
Woywitka and Lynch won't be counting against the Blues' cap.
