Luckily, I record about 90% of what I watch, so I spare myself that horrid bit of torture most of the time. :)
Me, too...I just particularly noticed it today on one of the NHL Network's commercials. At least they've introduced a new one into the lineup, I guess.
A lot of TV's used to have a function that senses volume changes on commercials and will tone them down. Doesn't work with a satelite receiver or cable box though. Haven't bought a new TV in ~5 years, so I don't know if that's still an option though.
My TV has that option (it's about a month old), but it definitely doesn't work through the cable box. I'm thinking I'm just going to go the whole nine and set up speakers, etc., so I have a little more control over the sound (I'm also getting crap volume levels from the cable box, and my living room is noisy anyway because the aquarium's in it.)

It's weird. Both the Sony that I had, and the Sharp that I now have, have the auto volume control.
I have direct-tv, but it actually worked with the Sony, but doesn't with the Sharp. :?: :?:

I was watching the NHL Network the other day and noticed that the programming was really quiet, which made the commercials really friggin loud. Also, the Spanish channels have much better commercials. And the only thing better than Rambo is watching Rambo dubbed into Spanish. Especially when they roll the R when they say Rrrrambo!

Good to know it's not just me who finds the NHL Network quiet; I was afraid I was going deaf or something.

There are set limits, but ad makers use obscene amounts of audio compression to make a commercial sound so loud.

I really don't want to go to class tonight. However, it is the last one, so I guess this is a bitch and an anti-bitch all in one.

I cannot stand this time of year. Ignorant drivers, parking spot poachers, selfish people pushing their way to the front of the line in every store in the mall...

In the amiss of not watching hockey on ESPN anymore I forgot how much of a toolbag that guy is.
