Yes, yes they are. I'm starting to warm up to theirs, but dammit, I like a dog who actually gives a shit what his owner thinks and/or wants. I grew up with German shepherds and Labs, both of which want nothing more than to make their people happy. You tell them to come, and they do. Tell them not to race out into traffic, and they don't. With Max, it's like, "Yeah, I'll come when you call me only if I can't immediately come up with something better to do," which he usually can. He's also big into running away and letting me traipse throughout the whole blasted neighborhood, screaming and calling for him; after about half an hour of that, he'll casually come sauntering up like, "Oh, you meant me?" My parents have a rescued Shih Tzu (har) who can't enough of the buffet found in the cats' litter box. And since they have chickens, too, the barnyard is basically one giant smorgasbord to him. They've tried forever to get him to stop, but he won't. Speculation is that he has some kind of emotional "thing" from being a rescue (his previous owner died, so Max bounced around between a couple of different homes before my mom & dad agreed to take him); personally, I just think he likes shit.

Max loves cat poo. And if he doesn't feel like eating it right then, he drags it out into the living room and leaves it in front of my dad's chair, like a little gift.Storm13 wrote:I had a dog that used to eat cat poop.
That's not as good as one of their cats, though, Chopper...she's the big mouser/moler of the group and leaves her catches outside the back door, which isn't unusual. However, she got excited once when my brother came out for a visit, went out and killed a mole, and arranged it tastefully next to his car, where he'd be sure not to miss it.
