I saw them play at Pops (the STL date) a few weeks back, and musically it was a great show. Anselmo was in much better shape than when I saw him with Superjoint a few years back.
However, the building was so overcrowded that it was really hard to enjoy the show, not to mention all the crank up SOBs that wanted to fight anything that moved. It was a war zone. However, I guess that should not be unexpected.
FYI – in my opinion, the intro video gets old very quickly.

Seriously. Dimebag was the f'in man.SIU LAW wrote:That's not right man...rebelmusic wrote:Edit: Why isn't Dimebag playing?
I liked the music on the intro video, especially the live "Hole in The Sky" Black Sabbath, but it was way too long. I didn't go to watch a video. Down did play for around 2 hours, if not longer, though.

Down was an amazing show. Yes SIU is right about the hoosier brigade being out in full force, but it didn't ruin the show for me. Some serious pros. If they were coming a little closer I'd probably trek to see 'em again.

Down's a pretty solid Southern doom metal band, and put on a good show when they came around here, though I don't think I'd pay to see them again. I'd rather see a band like Crowbar or C.O.C. instead, but that just could be because of my abhorrance of Anselmo.

Re: DOWN announces 2008 tour dates
Went to the show on Saturday, and Phil Anselmo proved that he is still the best singer in Metal history. No one even touches him, and I love it cause of all the "haters".
Also got to meet everyone aside from Rex Brown after the show. I have a photo of Phil and I that will be posted later. As usual, he was very cool to the fans. He even spotted someone with a Colts hoodie on and started a conversation about the NFL with the dude.
If anyone is anywhere near a city where Down will be playing, pay the $22.50 and go.
