AHL Clear Day List?

Post by Sec310K67 »

Anyone have any info on what this is?
I heard someone talking about it last night at the game and I was wondering what it is and how it works, and who can be included on it.
Thanks

Each Clear Day roster consists of a maximum of 22 players. According to AHL by-laws, only those players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the AHL regular season and in the Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts, only after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.

Sweet, thanks for that info?
Would current Blues players be eligible, such as Johnson, perron, backes, etc?(the younger guys)

You still gotta worry about a player clearing waivers.
From the PJStar today.....
The Blues made four notable paperwork transactions - sending down to Peoria, and then immediately recalling - Woywitka, goaltender Hannu Toivonen, center-winger Yan Stastny and defenseman Erik Johnson.

That means all four will be on Peoria's final AHL roster when that deadline arrives Thursday. But it doesn't necessarily mean any of them ever will actually come to the Rivermen.

They would not join Peoria until the Blues season is over. And like Woywitka, Stastny could become a waivers issue if he stays in the NHL long enough.

Eric Johnson would be eligible, first year pro. Wouldn't have to clear waivers. Backes has spent the whole year in St. Louis, most likely wouldn't be sent to Peoria. I think he would have to clear waivers. David Perron can't play in Peoria until Lewiston's season is over. Stastny and Woywitka would have to clear waivers if they stay on the Blues roster for 25 days, IIRC. It is believed that Toivonen would only play in Peoria's playoffs if the Blues miss or lose in the first round. Beckford-Tseu or Schwarz wouldn't back up Legace in the NHL playoffs. Cam Janssen has played in the AHL for Lowell, injury rehab, and may be able to play in Peoria if the Blues want him to.

The Clear Day list is one of the silliest things the AHL does because of the ease in using players in games that are not on the list.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Rivermen are even going to make the playoffs.

Geez...I'm hoping they have another month like January and manage to pull it off.
