Beat me to it :)

Tonight and Wednesday the Cards are facing lefties which should make those games interesting. The only advantage is 2 of the Cards 3 bets are starting those nights and the Nats aren't generating runs. It'd be nice to know how the Cardinals - besides Pujols and Ludwick - are hitting left-handers this year, because it's been a concern in the past. Anyone got that info or where to get it, feel free to post it. Don't have the time to go through the roster and figure it out.

Thursday night should be an adventure with the Parisi Project getting another turn.

Guessing this senes ends 2-1 due to Thursday.

Zimmerman was placed on the DL, so that helps the Cardinals. I'm hoping we can put a beatdown on them, but it hinges on how they rebound from the game last night. And hopefully the Cubs cool off. That would be a big help.

The Cubs only won 2 games on their last road trip, so hopefully their road woes will continue.

Nice start. I always thought Dan Quisenberry had the weirdest delivery. Worrell topped it. We'll see how long it takes before someone figures out how to hit him. And another solid outing by Lohse. Great spring training move bringing him in.

That's a winner for the opening game of the series after 2 lengthy rain delays.

And we've got the draft today, as well. So two games and a draft...lots of baseball today. Glad I have the day off...haha.

Nice outing for Wellemeyer.

Some concern for the night game, though since TLR used all but 2 relievers in the day game. Parisi starts while McClellan and Worrell were the only two relievers who didn't see action. Think it's kind of odd he didn't let Villone go longer. 2 outs, gave up a single and he pulled him even though the lead was still 4-0.

Taking a page from the Chinese proverb: The Cardinals will live in interesting times this evening.

Why in the world would you take Wellemeyer out after only 79 pitches (of shutout ball) when you know you have a guy who might only go 2 or 3 innings starting the night game?

Oh well, my fantasy team will appreciate the win from Tim Redding tonight...

And then use most of the bullpen just to get 9 outs knowing the night game starter might not last 2 innings.

Gotta feeling if Parisi looks like he did in Pittsburgh, he'll be pitching 6-7 innings anyway.

[Edit] Oh... the reason they pulled Wellemeyer is probably due to the fact he'll be pitching on 4 days rest in his next outing instead of the usual five.

Exactly. First inning it was obvious this guy can't get my cat out. I have no idea why he was started.

7 runs surrendered to the Nationals in only 3 innings??? He needs to go back down and bring Reyes back up here, like OS has said before.

Double dipping the bullpen is the mistake that cost that game (other than pitching Parisi).

Franklin had already pitched a full inning earning the save in the early game. Using Villone, Springer, Perez, Flores, and Franklin to get 9 outs in a 4-0 game setup the later blown save.

Villone should have been able to handle 2 innings in the day game, no problem, which would've setup Perez for a non-save 9th inning hold.

Then Springer, Flores and Franklin - along with Worrell and McClellan - would all have been available for the game which would need a full bullpen with Parisi going.

Sometimes it seems to me TLR over-uses the bullpen then comes back saying - our bullpen was overworked. Duh....
