Series thread: Pirates at Cards

Post by stlmark »

Snell,RHP (4-10, 5.91) vs. Looper,RHP (11-9, 4.07) - Tuesday
Davis,RHP (1-2, 1.80) vs. Wellemeyer,RHP (10-4, 3.79) - Wednesday

We need to win these 2 games.

Brewers are currently 2 1/2 games ahead of the Cards in the WC.

We've got 35 games left...I agree with Mr. Mike Shannon who says we need to win at least 20. But realistically, 25 wins might be needed. We need to have weeks where we are 5-2, 6-1. Seems like too often we settle for 4-3 weeks, etc. after winning 2-3 games early in the week and blowing several in the latter half of the week.

My opinion anyway. Definitely have to win these two games.

We can't have these kind of shitty games if we expect to win the WC. Honestly, I think we NO chance.

Lackluster game...blown chances...poor defense...poor pitching in the 9th...
And what the hell was Barton doing swinging on the first pitch in the 9th with the bases loaded and us down by three?!?!?!?
They were walking everyone, and Pujols is two batters away, and he is swinging at the first pitch and then swung at a ball in the dirt later in the at bat....WTF?!?! A walk would have put the tying run in scoring position. Everyone else was taking pitches and making the pitcher throw strikes. Barton apparently didn't get the memo.
Frustrating. It was a shame, because Looper pitched a great game...again.

Milwaukee lost...so it could have been worse.

We really need to rattle off winning 6 out of 7, or something like that. 2.5 games can be made up in no time...but you probably have to be playing good solid baseball to do so, which the Cardinals aren't right now.

Better win this one tonight. Looks like the Brewers are going to win today. They are leading 5-2 in the 8th.
