Oh hell yeah. But if Lars killed himself, James would have replaced him with Hellhammer. And of course, Hellhammer would be treated like shit.Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:In fairness.. Lars should be dead just as much as Hetfield.

Martyr is very good. They remind me a lot of Atheist and Necrophagist. Is Warp Zone their best?

In my opinion, yes. But their other two albums are two different types of listens. Martyr is a band that can do no wrong as far as metal goes, it seems.ksbluesfan wrote:Martyr is very good. They remind me a lot of Atheist and Necrophagist. Is Warp Zone their best?

Re: Additions to your music collection
I'm not terribly impressed with I Shalt Become. They (he?) copy Burzum so much, it's sad. And poorly. They should invest in a metronome.
Judas Iscariot is a little better, but the atmosphere is too thin. I don't know how to put my finger on it, but it's not even close to Burzum, which is what I was hoping. It's more like a cross between Ildjarn and Darkthrone. The songs with a faster tempo are much better. I'll give Judas Iscariot another shot, but I'll skip I Shalt Become.
I am very impressed with Martyr.
Edit: I'm listening to Judas Iscariot's "Fidelity". He completely ripped off Transilvanian Hunger. The Darkthrone worship is too much.

Re: Additions to your music collection
If you want a quality atmospheric BM band in the vein of Burzum, then check out Nyktalgia. I think I've recommended them to you before, but they are probably the best Burzum-esque band on the scene, and even the M-A forums have been talking about them lately, it seems. The only problem is that its tough to find their stuff, unless you want to order from No Colours distribution, which sounds like its not that good of an idea. I found their last album "Peisthanatos" by luck at Now Hear This in Kirkwood, so I supposed I lucked out quite a bit.ksbluesfan wrote:I'm not terribly impressed with I Shalt Become. As as Martyr goes, I hear they're going to either do one of two things: Start touring the U.S. soon, or start writing new songs. I hope for both of those things, since I'd love to see them.

Lately, I've been getting music exclusively from eMusic. Once in a while, I'll buy from iTunes or buy a hard copy. Opeth's Watershed was worth buying in hard copy and easy to find. Unfortunately, Nyktalgia isn't on eMusic or iTunes.

I downloaded Exhorder's "Get Rude" demo. It's pretty darned good. They're closer to thrash than groove metal.

Naglfar - "Harvest"
Entombed - "Out of Hand"
Naglfar is like Dimmu Borgir without the cheese. Entombed is the death metal prototype.

I use to hate Rush with a passion. Now I have 17 of the 18 studio albums (missing Presto). LGB member Brandur (among a couple of other friends) kept twisting my arm until I accepted that Rush were actually awesome. He is lucky I came around though. Before I was converted, if I heard him play “The Trees†one more time during a Blues game on television, I was going to have to smash his acoustic over his head.
Also, I am a Southern Illinoisan hoosier (or a midwest backwoods imbecile per glen a richter).
FYI - I haven't forgotten to post about the new Metallica. I got it, letting album settle in first.

I didn't appreciate the depth of the love affair that St. Louis has with Rush until I moved to other cities. I hear a Rush song on the radio like once every 2 weeks here, maybe, and I usually get excited. Wow, they are actually playing Rush on the radio!! Counterparts was the first album of theirs I bought, I think. Either that or Chronicles. The Counterparts tour at the Arena was the first time I saw them, and I haven't missed a tour since. And how did you not own Power Windows until now? Damn it, I'm going to have to play some Rush on the mp3 player now.

I don't hate rush, I just hate the reverence for Neil Peart. While he's a creative drummer, I think he has the feel of a concrete slab.Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:Rush sucks.... There I said it.

Critter Rock - CD from the Missouri Dept of Conservation Songs about animals for the little guy. I've only listened to the first couple songs so far, but "Reptile Rap" is atrocious until the very end when the guy doing the back-up interjections throws down a "yeah boyeeee!" and totally redeems it.
