Plusity plus plus, QFT, and all that other stuff. Class envy and wealth redistribution.goon attack wrote: What about the tax credits, OS? How do you feel about those?
read THIS and get back to me.
Same thing happened to me about a month ago. I bought an Acomdata external drive on Amazon.com and about 2 days after I had it it crapped out on me. Amazon said to send it to the company since it's under warranty. I did. I haven't heard from them since. I've sent multiple emails, etc. trying to get an update on what's going on and it's like I just sent it to a black hole. I do know it was delivered because some guy named "Chen" signed for it.....cprice12 wrote:Well F*ck.
My Maxtor One Touch 4 (750gig) external hard drive is acting up. Damn thing will start flashing and disappear from the system. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to work again. It's only four or five months old. At least it's still under warranty.
This is the 3rd external hard drive that has gone defective on me in the past six months.![]()

I had two WD MyBook's...and they both started acting goofy...and now this one is acting up.
These things are supposed to backup your data, but they aren't reliable at all. Who in the hell would want to backup their important stuff on a drive that may go out in a few months?
Ridiculous.
The new Microsoft ones on the other hand I think are great. Especially those first ones with Jerry and Bill. You can't call me biased though, I own a PC desktop and a Mac laptop.Blueline29 wrote:OMFG, I hate Apple commercials.
I'd say something, but it would just restart that pointless debate again.Blueline29 wrote:OMFG, I hate Apple commercials.
At work, I have a desktop PC and a nice MacBook Pro, and I enjoy both...but the PC is far superior.Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:I'd say something, but it would just restart that pointless debate again.Blueline29 wrote:OMFG, I hate Apple commercials.
Why, because it can handle all the anti-virus software better?cprice12 wrote: At work, I have a desktop PC and a nice MacBook Pro, and I enjoy both...but the PC is far superior.
...and I'm not even saying it as a statement of PC vs. Mac with regard to actual computing capability; I just friggin can't STAND those franking commercials. I will not be talked down to by some dumbass marketing bozo.Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:I'd say something, but it would just restart that pointless debate again.Blueline29 wrote:OMFG, I hate Apple commercials.

No...for starters, it's because half of the cool shit that's out there won't run on a Mac.goon attack wrote:Why, because it can handle all the anti-virus software better?cprice12 wrote: At work, I have a desktop PC and a nice MacBook Pro, and I enjoy both...but the PC is far superior.
I gotta disagree.goon attack wrote:I surf the internet, do academic research, write papers, do bill pay, and listen to music. I also watch the occasional DVD on my computer.
If that's all somebody does online or with a computer, the Mac is the far superior choice.
I've been a PC owner since 1996, and I've only had one major problem with a virus...and it was my own fault for downloading and installing a cracked program that was actually a virus. I knew better. It took me less than a day to fix.I've been a mac owner almost 5 years and I've never had a virus/trojan horse/worm/spyware problem other than a macros virus that affected my Microsoft Word program only. Figures the only thing to get in here and eff things up was linked specifically to a Microsoft product.
I agree. However, spending the same $$ on a PC will probably yield better results.Oh yeah, the graphics and music recording capabilities with the macs is topnotch.
I enjoy OS X, I just prefer XP because I can do so much more with it.Unix is just a superior platform because it's simpler.
Still going on Tribal Wars? I have been out of that game for over a year now I think.I'm not a gamer other than I do play tribal wars and am kicking a little bit of ass.
No difference. Hassling with all the bullshit that gets onto your machine is the issue. I'd much rather pay a few hundred extra bucks to avoid that hassle. That's my point.cprice12 wrote:I gotta disagree.goon attack wrote:I surf the internet, do academic research, write papers, do bill pay, and listen to music. If that's what you're doing, you can get a comparable PC, for less $$.

I have a 13' MacBook and a 15' G4 Powerbook with the superdrive. The MacBook is a big improvement over the G4 imo. What kind of Mac do you have? iMac I take it?
One thing that really bothers me about a lot of Macs, is that you can't upgrade them. The iMacs are an "all-in-one" sealed machine...so if you want to upgrade the monitor or the cd rom drive or add another hard drive or upgrade the ram after a couple years of owning the machine, you can't. If you want to upgrade, you have to drop $1500-$2000 on another iMac...unless you have a tower Mac Pro, which few people do because they cost almost $3000.
If I didn't take care of my computer, I'd have my fair share of spyware and junk like that on it that would slow it down.goon attack wrote:No difference. I guess I'm just not as smart as you. my old gateway just sorta locked up after awhile from all the spyware and other crap that was on it.I've been a PC owner since 1996, and I've only had one major problem with a virus...and it was my own fault for downloading and installing a cracked program that was actually a virus. In almost every case, if someone gets a virus, it's because of their own stupidity.
